We have a government owned by corporations. 70% of Americans want single-payer healthcare but our politicians would never dream of it, because they’re all vetted and bribed. The housing industry is gamed by big finance. Rents are skyrocketing while the bulk of our politicians are landlords themselves. Adjusting for inflation, the minimum wage has fallen 50% since the 70s. The opiate crisis continues unchecked. The food industry has free rein to sell the most addictive, obesogenic foods science can conceive of. Student debt is insane. There’s infinite money for war but no money to help ordinary people, because politicians don’t want people to realize that change is possible.
These people think corporation censorship is better than state censorship not even realizing that we’re already in an oligarchy so they’re the same thing. The US government makes public official announcements on private controlled apps like X. They lobby Congress people and hang out with them. They fund their campaigns. It’s the same thing over here, corporations and the state.

If you’re a US citizen/resident, the US government is clearly a bigger threat to your life and livelihood. What’s China gonna do to foreigners? Ban them from entering their country? On the other hand, we can be sure that China won’t hand your data over to the US government. So wouldn’t that make Chinese apps safer for Americans?
