I remember that one lmao

Really nice write up!

I’m actually irritated because I wanted to take the quiz but it’s members only I’ll never know if I’m a real socialist or not now

I thought this was already available actually

Oh yeah if they’re on piefed they’re pretty locked down. Besides being hardcoded against the thorn symbol it’s also hardcoded to block hexbear lmao

Yeah it’s a silly reason when you consider how weights work (if I understand them correctly myself that is) but I admire the commitment to the bit. I think the chud that wrote pixelfed or whatever the slop lemmy is called even hardcoded a rule to block their thorns lmao

Shoutout to that one lemmy user that exclusively uses þ despite being bullied every time

I’m relatively uneducated on this topic but my understanding of the position against USAID has two main points.

It’s weaponized to keep countries dependent on aid open to us business and operations (for example when countries pushed back on sending troops to Iraq they would threatened with losing their aid, Yemen is a name that comes to mind but between the USAID cuts and the Yemeni civil war my phone googling isn’t helping me very much)

The other point (as I understand it) is that it can create dependency (sometimes tied to the conditions of the aid). Former leader of Burkina Faso, Thomas Sankara, spoke out about this a couple times:

Those who come with wheat, millet, corn or milk, they are not helping us. Those who really want to help us can give us ploughs, tractors, fertilizers, insecticides, watering cans, drills and dams. That is how we would define food aid.

She apparently requested firing squad or hanging multiple times

Big fan of the kobo too!

If I’m getting a nice coffee out, I’m not looking to get (overpriced) drip coffee.

Starbucks isn’t in BDS afaik

There’s a website called black wolf feed dot top that’s pretty up to date but I would never use it of course.

This is pretty cool!

I regularly use my following feed and it’s somewhat chronological. I wouldn’t mind a purely chronological following feed as the default, but yeah the for you page would be useless and probably real unpleasant if it was chronological

Refreshing news for Germany
