(jk going vegetarian or vegan is an admirable choice even if you do it noncommittally by reducing your animal protein consumption. Every 1 gram of animal protein required ~9g of feed depending on the animal.)
You… don’t… need to buy those manufactured food products, either, you realize? Chickpeas and rice, mushrooms, tofu, etc. can all lend you to making your own tasty recipes.

That’s why I said statistically. Yeah you can go vegan on oreos and french fries and drag down the stats, but on the whole vegans do better.
It know, not a great superpower.
It’s a gradual building process, but some perks happen very quickly. Like your whole body being in distinctly less pain - that can happen in days depending on your inflammation status. Or being super bloated because you started eating way too much fiber way too soon, that can happen in a day.
After a few years you may find your immune system starts to become superhuman. Not even joking, it’s kind of wild how much more resilient I am to sickness these days. Getting sick far less frequently, symptoms consistently becoming laughably mild, and duration is far shorter too.
I stopped craving junk food and lost the pudge I’d been carrying most of my life.

That’s the real danger. It’s a misconception that vegans eat a ton of tasteless nearly nutritionless lettuce but we probably do eat way more berries than others.

This recall list is for things the grocery store or restaurants see, not consumer sized cuts. When was the last time you bought 30lbs of menudo mix?
individual consumer packages may not bear this labeling, as retail stores may have applied their own stickers with pricing and safe handling instructions
The recalled meat could still have ended up in packages for consumers. What they’re saying is that you can’t know since retail stores would have cut up this meat and repackaged it.
Call your butcher.
Thing is, many of these things grow over time, and - especially with the active gutting of regulatory and oversight bodies - there’s a decent chance that the list isn’t comprehensive.
It’s also one of the reasons why I have avoided US meat products and grabbed stuff with a maple leaf instead, because it wasn’t hard to see this coming (and coming and coming)

You need to set your comfort level where it suits you, sure. However best to go into this informed with the actual available data. I’m not a vegetarian, but excessive meat waste really makes me cringe. Agree for future purposes, as with everything - avoid buying American (US) whenever possible.
