That’s supposed to be lemmy.world right, so why are these white supremacists talking like 2017-era reddit Chapos? What happened, did the little cowards detect the national vibe shift and decide open fascism and worshipping DC think tanks wasn’t “punk” anymore? They got bored of being quiet Trumpers so now its time to roleplay as Berniecrats?

…hopefully warm the public up to demilitarizing…

Motherfucker 50% of Americans want to abolish ICE right now! What warm up? Again these trust fund Neets always give the game away with some asinine statement that proves beyond a shadow of doubt they have no fuckin clue what they’re talking about

it’s a project of offloading parts of military budget (sorry, surplus) onto the police and municipal budgets, terror war on middle east required lots of armored vehicles and you can’t just let go that to waste or reduce military budget.

The chapo pod’s takes on BLM at the time were so embarassing, and revealing of their reactionary liberal leanings. I still listen to them but I’m very skeptical of them if only for the stance they took during the riots

That’s an extremely funny thing to say when I know from context posts that most of the most critical Mamdani posters (moi included) are from the U.S. while it is usually our (small contingent of) European, Asian and Middle Eastern posters who were far more optimistic.

Honestly the most critical perspectives come from U.S. Midwestern socialists, mostly because we are extremely used to NY fucking everything up for everyone else. While our NY contingent have been extremely quiet on Mamdani for oh, three or four months now. This isn’t me gloating btw, I was extremely optimistic about him when he got in, but he rapidly dashed those hopes, but I hold out the minimum hope that he will somehow turn this puppy around.

I can’t even understand what their critique of the radical left is besides “they are more radical” and allowing the reader to assume radicalism is bad.

I like radicalism in my movement, pulling me toward the edge of progress. Do I think we are going to abolish the police after an election cycle? I dunno but I do know surrendering before we start the conversation isn’t leadership or a plan, and a lot of police would probably behave better if they were under serious threat of losing their jobs. Isn’t just getting the cops to behave a little better what liberalism wants anyway?

Personally I feel every pig should be out of a job while we dig deep into their records. Some real accountability. But libs won’t prop up the boogeyman of going too far in order to get a little, even if that meager little is what their liberal conception allows them, and so they get nothing.

I can’t even understand what their critique of the radical left is besides “they are more radical”

They want both their lanyard class privileges and their sense of moral and intellectual superiority and leftists upset that. We create a cognitive dissonance they would never feel without us.

    • “Radical” is always relative, and their first instinct is always to blunt the movement back towards the status quo.

The grand effect of punching left is that you are signing yourself up next to be seen as radical and the recipient of the leftward punching.

abolishing police is authoritarian, the poisoned worms of ancaps lodging firmly into the brainstem of allegedly normal leftists

Authoritarian is when you author a bill to abolish fascist institutions. The more bills you author the more authoritarian it is.

“aUtHoRiTaRiAn” is whenever the government does something, because it’s not conceivable that state power could be used in a positive way. anyway here’s my depiction of an AES leader as a racist caricature of a cartoon bear

Reminds me of this frustrating documentary about trying to implement environmental measures in some rural American town and the chuds voting all of them down. The filmmaker concludes that this is a frustrating aspect of democracy and to force through those measures would be stepping into authoritarianism.

If you can’t have a backbone against the genocide lobby, then you are of no use. Simple as. I refuse to make any sort of compromise with anyone abetting it, Mandamni has done that. It’s really not that high a standard to hold. I’m not American let a lone a New Yorker, so my opinion means jack shit anyway. But i’ve called the German people either cowards or willong participants in the holocaust and I would be haunted from beyond the grave to be the same as them. Giving them an inch makes you a bad person. Being mayor of New York and placating the pro genocide crowd makes you an even worse person. If you can’t whole heartedly stand against a genocide, you can’t be trusted to stand for anything.

As far as the police state goes, the only thing that can stop a capitalist police state is a communist one. We will have to arrest like…LOT of people in the event of a successful revolution. Police are fine if theyre on my side
