Chinese propaganda is rampant on the fediverse. We need to discuss ways to combat this. One group- memes or something is wholly controlled by Chinese state actors. What do you think?

I’m no fan of Tankies or the CCP, but I’m really not seeing any more pro-china propaganda than you see elsewhere, mostly excitement as a result of their green tech stuff or HSR (while ignoring why China has a need for HSR)

Someone once told me China has such a robust rail system so that they can move their nations worth of prisoners around. I think this is what this user is implying, but I really don’t quite know.

Millions of Chinese are dedicated to destroying truth. No society can flourish in darkness. Poo bear will fail, although, in the short term they can propagandized the world with disinformation with successes in different areas. Humanity is truth. Without truth, there can be no humanity.

@DSN9@lemmy.ml When you say millions of Chinese (just “Chinese,” not “Chinese people”) are dedicated to destroying truth, and then say that without truth there is no humanity, it sounds to me like you’re saying millions of Chinese people have no humanity. Is that what you meant?

Critiquing China for isolationism in the 21st century and collaborating with the US in the 20th, liberalism, cultural revolution, 4 pests campaign, social chauvinism, and other stuff that actually happens: halal

Critiquing China for Uighur genocide, oppressing Tibet, Taiwan, Hong Kong, social credit score, and other stuff that’s either not real or is simply good and correct for a communist country to do (oh no they freed Tibetan slaves and took over a proxy used by Britain to influence China!): haram

Liberals could do well to learn that leftists have plenty of time to sit and reflect on the things we’ve done wrong because we’re serious about trying again and doing them right. It’s really telling that they can say we never criticize China or other AES because we do have so many criticisms, they’re just not based on the fictions they have.

We mention this a lot, but it’s obvious they don’t read. We have some of the biggest critics of China on all of Lemmy who are signed up on Hexbear or Lemmygrad. They just have actual evidence and intellectual backing for their critiques instead of re-posting Reddit comments for the last 10 years.

WTF is wrong with these people that they are scared of Chyna? No one from China has harmed me. It’s been white, American Christian Evangelicals that have caused the most harm to my life. Why aren’t you lemmitors going after those people?

You don’t seem to understand how much the west cares about the Uyghurs. Their socio-economical and religious autonomy is a breath of freedom air in the lungs of Chinese hegemony.

Of all the propaganda blitz about Uighurs the thing that’s jumped out to me is how much the extent to which the specific label of “genocide” was effectively used to divide people. In the real world it’s a fringe position, even from Western critics of China, to call anything the government has done in Xinjiang a genocide. That’s why they had to bust out the term “cultural genocide.” But in a lot of radlib spaces there’s people who have run over themselves actively looking for the most extreme argument they can make, which has them making up these fantasies of the central government of China making concentration camps and killing floors in Xinjiang. Completely different from what the actual propaganda narrative is (which is itself exaggerating a deradicalization program to make it sound like North American Residential Schools).

But because the most extreme anti-China users wield the term “genocide” they can use it against anyone who actually knows any version of the facts, because you can be labelled a genocide denier as long as you don’t believe the fantasy version where there’s death camps in Xinjiang. It’s also perfect for enforcing group discipline because it’s really easy to justify the purity test on the basis that denying any genocide makes you as bad as someone like David Icke. Without that wrinkle, I figure most reasonable people would hear the extre anti-“tankie” people and not really care too much, especially if they aren’t familiar with the evidence they cite. But because they’re told that it makes them a bad person if they deny the genocide, which is a big and scary word, they just go along with the consensus. Honestly, I can’t fault the average lib who thinks that way, the ones I fault are the ones who go out of their way to find reasons to project evil onto China.

Yup, that is something that I cannot look past either. The term genocide being used in conjunction with some extreme finger wagging. The only goal of which was to play up how bad even the Chinese government is.

Meanwhile the same folks don’t want the word to mean the same thing when talking about Gaza. Screeching into the void about how the leftists are supporting Trump by acknowledging an actual genocide.

          Edit: forgot a word

I wish they could see what we’ve written here. I’ll have to get around to making a lemmy.ml account because it’s becoming increasingly frequent for there to be threads where the people on the other side post blatant falsehoods that could easily be called out. I tried doing that with a .works account but it just got banned by their automod pretty quick, probably for posting too many links and images.

These people are going to have a fit when the UK starts promoting China officially because it’s now trying to change ties from US to China.

Kind of like how the nu-atheists turned into deus vult guys once their Islamophobia won out over their skepticism, these are the people who, 20 years ago, were laughing and making fun of the red-faced Cold War boomer screaming about Communist Russian influences in the local HOA.
