Cribbing notes from someone’s tweet I saw earlier today about this notion of Hegseth “hiding” something everyone in the admin knew e.g. the destruction of the naval HQ in Bahrain;
The lib establishment won’t criticize the war directly because they would be and eventually will be cheerleading for the same war with Iran when their time comes, so they go for this weak ass process criticism or blame particular executors of the war.
The dems are just as bloodthirsty and pro war and they don’t even have the guts to full throatedly (giggity) voice opposition to a politically unpopular war that will only become more disastrous as time rolls on. Or maybe they think it’ll work itself out and they don’t want to eat their words if US-IS can somehow conjure up a W, God forbid dem leadership express any principled stances.

I feel like we’re about to be inundated with stories floated to pin the entire clusterfuck on a single fall guy until one of them finally sticks with the GOP base.

Yeah, most of these stories seem to just be everyone pointing the finger at everyone else for this clusterfuck, then the weakest link will be blamed for all of it, fired and nothing will change.
I imagine that this entire administration shares an unspoken mutual understanding that telling Trump the truth about literally anything is more of a nuisance than it’s worth. Hegseth lying to Trump about this is probably factual and probably no one else was even explicitly told about that because they all just correctly assumed that’s what was happening. I’d bet basically everyone there has a story like this that puts them at risk of being thrown under the bus with all of their peers having plausible deniability.
I don’t understand this chain of events. Base gets destroyed, Trump isn’t informed, sailors in a ship don’t get food.
How is Trump knowing about this base relevant to whether the soldiers of empire get fed? Surely the logistics side of things aren’t covered by him?

Could be a Lily Pad. Some of them are basically a whole large base, with almost no people, but all the equipment and supplies needed for a large force. So after delivering several large aircraft full of troops you have a large mechanized force with supplies for a campaign. These are also good for resupplying a nearby force. So you could screw up logistics in the area by destroying it but that might not result in many casualties, if any, due to the skeleton crew.

If he hadn’t “hidden” it, would the carrier have been resupplied? I’m just not really sure what to make of this story. Surely Trump gets some overlapping news in his various briefings. I would imagine that major US bases going out of commission rates a mention from a few departments.
