      I legit dont think my child is going to grow old because of what is happening in our environment. It seems like a real possiblility with the unaddressed issues of climate change and our resource managment problems. What it’s like to sit with that.

      I werent supposed to have a kid, I …have a kid, doing my best, but I have to surpress this very real chance of reality, and it sucks to sit with it.

    “Salem” didn’t do this, the citizens did. And you can, too!

    I don’t know how to organize with that many badasses, but it’s a really encouraging story about reminding the rich and powerful of what gives them power and how easily it can be taken away.

      What did make the official record: a unanimous council vote to direct staff to begin developing a moratorium on data center development, confirmed by Salem Reporter and KATU News.

      Pressing a pause button and painting an uncertain future for data center corporations, while the world becomes progressively more aware of the harms of their use, does not bode well for the industry. At least, not in Oregon. Well, maybe numerous other states too. Other municipalities and local governments might be watching. Word gets around, you know.

      Would love to, but no. Instead of direct adoption, the council said they’d conduct “studies” on the claimed demerits and come back to it afterwards.

      While there is a chance the “studies” will agree with the protestors’ claims, it’s more likely a small bribe will get the go ahead anyway or they merely retreated to sign the contract behind closed doors.

      With all the trumpeteering going around, i wouldn’t be too hopeful about the end result.

        That’s because they used it wrong. You’re supposed to pretend it’s a magic trick. Usually it takes 5 beheadings before the rest figures out the trick does not involve returning the heads.
