My small town in the US has automatic ticketing using license plate scanners. This is not new or unique and was in fact pioneered by US law enforcement.

They really are just focused on “It’s good when we do it, but if I am a victim it is bad. This should be just used against brown people”
Ironically i think the conservatives (fascists) and communists see more clearly here than liberals, who are caught in the contradiction of all that civic religion bullshit that just exists to obscure power relations.
