As NBC News reports, the Heritage Foundation is pushing the White House to pass initiatives to financially reward newlyweds, create deeper tax incentives for married couples, discourage online dating — paradoxically, it would seem — and even start opening government-run “marriage bootcamps.”

I smell a grift. Anywho, there was some similar wastes of money under Dubya. There’s a very simple correlation when it comes to marriage: people with better economic indicators are more likely to be married than people with economic insecurity. So improve people’s economic wellbeing and we’ll see more marriages. Of course, the Heritage Foundation’s concern for America’s moral status goes out the window the moment that concern threatens ’s bottom line.

I don’t really get the point of this even from a deranged fascist viewpoint, I’d “understand” doing this to force couples to have kids, but what’s the point of forcing people to get married when divorces exist. Do they also plan to make getting divorced illegal or borderline impossible or somehow force married people to have kids something?

I’m guessing the male version of these camps will be Andrew Tate style “here’s how to trick women into sleeping with you to carry on the white race for another generation” stuff and the women’s will be “You are worthless and should settle for the first guy who shows interest in you because your only value as a woman is as a baby factory.”

These marriage camps wouldn’t possibly also be gay conversion camps for lgbt people right? I’m a gay trans woman… would they give me a husband to make me straight, or a wife? What’s the straight option there?

I really don’t think the opinions of people who did not vote for Trump really need to be considered here. They weren’t the target audience for these proposals. It didn’t drag down his election campaign. These proposals were incredibly popular with their target audience. Like, he won.
