This crap showed in my queue recently and at first I was enjoying it. But then the lyrics were just too “good”. And when I looked up the band and generated shite.
Just warning anyone that loves music and the musicians that make it.

That’s all. Thank you for ignoring this matter.

    On the artist page:

I’m Aug, and here I merge raw expression with machine precision. AI isn’t a substitute that creates alone, but rather a partner unlocking new sonic possibilities. Lyrics are mine, augmented by AI-powered instrumentation. Styles range from Psychedelic Rock, Blues, Indie, Jazz to experimental fusions. The bands are all fictional but sound convincing.

I think it says a lot that the it’s advertised as an old band, including 1972 in the name. It’s a hustle, albeit one barely conforming to social media standards.

    …That’s so 2025.

Not just for being AI, but like all influencer/social media/app culture. Everything feels “scam adjacent,” the platforms are in on it.

I didn’t say anything about YouTube. Why would you think I have a more favorable opinion of YouTube?

Weirdly the first thing, and the thing that stuck longest, from that image was the bent guitar neck. It’s so off that it somehow draws the eyes toward it but it’s not sufficiently off to make it immediately obvious why it attracted the eye. That’s for me the most cursed part of that “cover”.

Honestly, if they don’t have that much mumbo jumbo on the description and compost their own music while having the AI sing, and then share the voice with others and allow people to create using the same voice and band name, i’d be okay. Used to not into vocaloid, but recently got introduced to kasane teto and it makes me realise, some people is good in composing and producing music, but can’t really sing, so generated voice can really help with that.

If the AI did more than 40% of the work then it’s definite bad.

Iirc, an AI “band” hit one of the top streaming charts in some crap category… country was it? And Christian music, I think.

It’s not just that platform. At least half of what YouTube is feeding me music wise is AI. I’m grateful most of it is marked such although you can kind of tell since it’s just so generic.

There’s no safe haven yet from this crap, unfortunately. Funny, you have Nirvana on that snapshot though, I bet Kurt Cobain would fucking kill himself again in 2025 over this corporate shit.

I had to put Nirvana in my ears to clean the AI trash out.

I still miss KC. I remember the day I heard the news. Almost as bad as when Chris Cornell went.

I always have music on because I just can’t stand silence. On my phone (and the last two… ) Pandora crashes around once per song, so I’ve reluctantly started using Spotify, though I have now learned they’re evil. I’m looking into alternatives.

Until recently, I hadn’t heard anything I recognized as AI (which admittedly doesn’t mean much; I frequently miss even obvious AI). My guess was that this was because I mostly listened to stations focused on artists I knew.

Eventually, I ran out of artists I knew and cared to hear and tried “recommended songs” playlists. I started to hear “Beats by AI” songs. This initially mostly happened while I was falling asleep or waking up, so I didn’t pay much attention. Once or twice, I thought “this doesn’t sound like Weird Al” then fell asleep.

But then one recent night, a fellow lemming was kindly chatting to me in the middle of the night when several of these songs came on in a row. I was listening to country at the time and holy crap were every single one of them horny! This was my favorite.

    Very horny AI song

Other AI songs I heard included the singer talking about how his penis was alarmingly (like genuinely, it said it would scare the hypothetical woman) small and another male AI singer saying that he wouldn’t sleep with a woman because he has a big penis and she has a small vagina.

My second favorite (about when I actually started paying attention):

Have you ever been fucked, fucked, fucked by a country boy? Rammed, rammed, rammed by redneck? Spread, spread, spread by an inbred who’s kind of got your daddy’s voice?

    Talk about enticing.

      L. M. A. O. Yeah. Those lyrics bring the heat. Hahaha!. That’s what tipped me off about this “band”. The lyrics went too hard about drugs and being an a$$hole … too good to be true.

They sounded too rough and cartoon-like. The lyrics talk about snorting Coca-Cola by the bucketful or some other nonsense. Almost like they were making fun of the old country songs, like Johnny Cash’s ‘Sunday Morning Coming Down’. The one where he sings about being hungover.

I think AI music is fine if you want to make less repetitive elevator music. Not so much if you want music to enjoy.

…are you under the impression that a post like this does literally anything except drive more people to their page? Jesus Christ, people.
