Don’t you remember all the nudity, profanity, and gore Minecraft used to have?

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Having a rough morning. I'm still pondering the question about beavers, and my kid asks me THIS

Do you want to go check?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the most painfully obvious thing you've seen have to be written out?
33·2 days ago“New study finds ‘Trickle Down Economics’ has not trickled down in any way over the last
304050 years”
So what science should they have done before they discovered they could use living DNA to patch gaps in the dino DNA to complete the cloning process?
I really don’t think they were just going down a random list being like “Mouse? No. House fly? No. Sparrow? No. Antelope? No. Octopus? No. Frog? Wait! Yes, thats the one!”
Can you clarify the ethics of cloning extinct species? Is it that cloning is always unethical? Is it that zoos are unethical? Is it a combination of creating living creatures wholly to be in zoos thats unethical?
What I’m trying to understand is if you have an ethical issue with the process or the goal?

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Hey look, a giant sign telling you to find a different job
15·8 days agoYes, except “hire enough people”. You can’t staff enough to cover 4 out of 8 employees off from a combination of sick, bereavement, and vacation.
It happens. All you can do is prioritize tasks, make it work the best you can with the resources you have, and manage expectations.
If the work can’t be rescheduled, and isn’t worth paying someone OT to cover, well, then, it’s not worth doing.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•It should be spelled "consomb," not "consume".English

I don’t see the problem here. All perfectly readable.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that Elon Musk lives in West Lake Hills, Texas. His mansion is owned by a shell company. He likes to visit Austin.
9·9 days agoI think the worst behaved people are those that conspire to use their immense wealth and influence to actively harm people for the sole purpose of consolidating neverending wealth.
But, yeah, guys who at least put some of their money back into the economy by buying luxury status over basic do get my hackles up.
But that’s damning a snake because the devil looks like you.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Ok, honestly, is cast-iron really any better than a non-stick, stainless, copper (anything else?) pan?
3·9 days agoI bet this works nominally better, but I just heat the pan with oil. I can’t be arsed to wipe screaming hot oil out of a pan only to reintroduce new cold oil and have to contemplate whether it could possibly make a difference and either feeling like an idiot for blindly following such an absurd direction, or like an idiot for not understanding the scientific grounds for which it works.
You’re right! Why should we try to fix it now?
Work.
But, I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe we need another study about how we’re all actually more productive when we’re required to be at work for fewer hours.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Guilbeault quits Carney’s cabinet over energy deal with Alberta
3·18 days agoYep, and normally I’d say you gotta just be the change and vote for a losing party to build support.
But with what’s happening in the abyss that is the States right now, taking a step backward in order to move forward feels much more dangerous than ever before.
We need electoral reform, but asking for it, and being promised it, sure hasn’t been working.
