    How did old places divided up into territories with vague borders tax border towns?

    Were some of them taxed twice by both regions claiming them as part of their territory?

      if the two regions were antagonistic, yes, probably. double taxation is one of the reasons you dont want to live in border zones.

      i know this shit contributed to central hungary emptying when it was a warzone between the ottomans and austrians.
