This seems to be the crux of the article:
Okay, I thought about it for six seconds. Zuckerberg believes that human prosperity will result from decentralized superintelligence, an outcome that requires OpenAI and Anthropic to implode. Do you know who stands to benefit in that scenario? Meta and Mark Zuckerberg.
Followed by examples of the myriad ways that Facebook and Meta have hurt people and abused their position.
Businesses refusing to maintain proper websites are going to prop facebook up long into the future.
I think Mark Zuckerberg is stupid. So the feeling is mutual.
People still use Meta. How can he conclude otherwise.
It’s so frustrating how people just don’t care about things. Especially if they’re complicated or indirect.
They’ll be like “but there’s funny memes there” and I’m like there’s humor in all sorts of places. Blank stare.
It’s perfectly normal and you do it, too. Different people focus on different things. Nobody has the bandwidth to educate themselves about everything.
Ideally, we would trust people who focus on a topic, aka experts, so we could focus on our own interests. In reality, we just accept the easiest path for things we don’t have the time to focus on—that could be tech, fashion, food, sport, etc.
The problem is that people with a selfish profit motive have too much control over things that people want.
Yes, but:
A majority of people really doesn’t mind at all doing transactions with a person drenched in blood and having a weapon in their hands with the innards of other people on it.
Extreme example just to make the point clear. Oftentimes it’s like ‘uh I’m inconvenienced’ as reasoning for choosing parking where emergency services could no longer get through or buying a product or using a service that is not only a detriment to us all but also with literal blood on their hands for the ugly dirty route.
Yeah, we all do it. But some things are much harder to navigate (eg: driving a car when you live in a car-first hell is hard to avoid) vs just not using Twitter.
Rich people and capitalism are a bigger problem that arguably is easier to solve, though, to your point.
It’s crazy. Its worse than substance addiction. People would give up opioids, cigs and meth easier than delete their accounts. Tech bros can literally be complicit in genocide, crimes against minors and election tampering and people keep throwing their money and data at them.
He knows better than anyone how bad things are looking for Meta. And, he also knows how bad things are looking for AI.
He’s spouting bullshit, not conclusions.
Just as we’ve always done, we’re betting on people.
They say while investing in a technology whose valuation is predicated on eliminating people from the workforce.
Meta has always believed in giving people the power to share, connect, and shape your world in the ways you want
His first statement is a bald-faced lie. Why should we believe anything else he says?
lol, right! We can’t even control our facebook feed!
Is this the guy who downloaded pictures of campus girls and put together a shit tier php script to vote which one you would like to fuck. Yeah, real technical and business genius there. He should have been developing porn site frontends or the epstein island date book. It’s wild that the investment class threw billions of dollars at him. Another weirdo tech bro. We need to shut them all down.
I fucking despise the “AI is a field leveler” framing. The act of making the art is the thing that makes the art impressive. Using a bot to steal art from artists ruins the whole reason I like looking at art. I don’t give a fuck if you can print out an image stolen from someone else, I want to see what you can make, and what that says about you as a person.
Dumb Fucks
Yeah…? They included that fact in The Social Network way back in 2010 and it was already somewhat well known by internet people prior to that.
“People just submitted it. I don’t know why. They ‘trust me.’ Dumb fucks.” - Mark Zuckerberg, 2004
Loads of people still use Farcebook and Instagrift and other such Meta products.
I hate to say this … but … ah … Zuck the Fuck is right.
Nice unfiltered writeup with receipts for a greedy hypocrite.
Worse. He doesn’t think you’re real.
That goes for most wealthy people. Their main purpose in life is to maintain the LARP in which they’re “main characters.”
“I’d be curious to hear Mark “AI optimist” Zuckerberg’s explanation for why, if anything goes awry with Meta’s Louisiana data center, “everyone else took on most of the potential downside,” the Times reported. Zuckerberg “gave his company an escape hatch to get out of it years before its partners,” according to the same investigation.”
They expect it all to crash and burn, they’re just hoping for a miracle at this point.
And to Zuckerberg I say: no u
