“What’s your name? Idk sounds like shit my bro will pick you a better name.” Wtf
“What’s your name, kid?”
“Steve.”
“Fuck that. Your name is Steve now.”
This is hysterical when written down like this
This is the correct thing to do.
Everyone in Chrono Trigger gets their real name in my playthroughs
mild spoilers
Chrono = Chrono
Lucca = Lucca
Frog = Glenn
Marle = Nadia
Robo = R66-Y
Ayla = Ayla
Magus = Janus
Doing this in FF7 leads to some real confusing dialog.
“Where’s Nanaki going?”
“Who the heck is Nanaki?”
“Nanaki is Nanaki!”
My mate named Tifa “Big Tits” and then complained he didn’t understand the story.
I vividly remember doing this, and that dialog box, and not remembering if it’s the character being a dick or if I did it to myself.
The main character’s name is “Crono” in the English release due to the 5 character limit on character names.
Ah, the missing ‘h’. Maybe I haven’t had enough sleep, but at first I thought you were saying he’s supposed to be named something else entirely.
(For the curious, his untranslated name is クロノ, ‘Kurono’, which is about as close to Chrono/Crono as you can get in Japanese.)
I usually name every character in such games because I like that it makes my playthrough slightly more unique. I’m surprised that Crono and Lucca have their original names though (the screenshots aren’t particularly fresh). But given that I gave Marle such a lame name I guess I wasn’t feeling creative back then…
I did exactly this the ten times I played the game.
This is all I need to hear to know I’m among my people
I made a whole playthrough of Ocarina of Time just to see Nabooru say “Nabooru? What kind of name is that?”
"What is your name?
… Zelda?
… Strange… It sounds somehow… Familiar"
-Princess Zelda
This reminded me of playing Saga Frontier. In that game you can be a robot, and there is a guy that always adds a G to the end of whatever you name the robot, if you choose to rename them.
from the SG wiki:
T260G is one of three characters who can be renamed at the beginning. However, a G will always be added to the end of the name, at Uncle Taco’s request.
dou-g
There’s always a Doug
When Hoid is telling the story, there are several
My favorite game of all time.
It certainly would have been funnier had Square put in some code that recognized you did this and had them respond along the lines of, “are you fucking with me?”
I was a little bit disappointed that there wasn’t any special reaction. Modern indie games spoiled me too much!
In at least one other place in the script his serial number is R-66Y instead.
I loove this remix of robo’s theme song, which cleverly features this as a lyric.
