Maybe it’s just enshitification and hopium but either more than 50% of “users” are bots or your average redditor is becoming indistinguishable from one.
A decade ago if you had a typo in the body of your post you’d get ripped to shreds now I constantly see highly upvoted posts and comments that are not only unintelligible they are incomprehensible.
I really can’t believe there’s 10s of thousands of people upvoting posts with titles like “what’s then one thing you’d couldnt misrumber?”
I’ve also noticed a lot of really highly upvoted comments on reddit lately calling out completely standard English as “incoherent” or something. Like it’ll be a comment that’s like “/r/titlegore wtf are you trying to say op” and I’ll say “what do you not get, the title looks completely normal to me” and I’ll get 0 replies and 50 down votes
Idk, the whole site has very weird vibes lately.
Covid did do a number on the american brainpan
I’d say it’s the decades of being subjected to a terrible education system and a culture of extreme anti-intellectualism personally.
“what’s then one thing you’d couldnt misrumber?”
If has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like
thanks for the stroke
Shame we don’t have an emoji of that kid.
My friend in his first year of university like 16 years ago found Reddit and told me about it and how much he liked it and stuff. People used to be kinda’ proud to be a Redditor. I don’t know if anyone’s like that now. Last time I heard people be kinda’ joyous or hopeful about an internet thing was Mastodon which kinda’ fizzled out. Haven’t heard people be proud to use a website in forever, maybe because it’s almost non-optional now.
But yeah, I think Reddit is probably increasingly bots, either by the creators or by 3rd parties.
People were like that about TikTok for a while
I did see a car not long ago with a reddit mascot Snoo bumpersticker as well as “NAFO” and NATO stickers and some doges/“fellas”, that seems to be the type to be proud of being a redditor. NAFO on Wikipedia for those out of the loop
The volunteer nazlib propagandist feels like the last person on the internet who’d be enjoying it.
Reddit was fedora 16 years ago
it was kinda cool in a techy hipster way for a while, it didn’t really get the fedora reputation until like 2015
Maybe it’s just enshitification and hopium but either more than 50% of “users” are bots or your average redditor is becoming indistinguishable from one
Probably also an effect of llms being mostly trained on reddit bullshit
I really can’t believe there’s 10s of thousands of people upvoting posts with titles like “what’s then one thing you’d couldnt misrumber?”
But then who was phone???
A Reddit link was detected in your comment. Here are links to the same location on alternative frontends that protect your privacy.
I thought it was just me. Reddit is fucking incoherent, add in fascism and pedophilia and you got the worst hellsite online outside of 4chan. But reddit is just a tad bit more polite.
I’d almost take the sincerity of 4 chan. At least they were self aware. Now you have the same ideologies with worse execution but they also think they’re brilliant saviors of the white race rather than a bunch of CHUDs.
I get you, but I still don’t think you’re going to find much self-awareness from /pol/ the birthplace of qanon. Having to choose between literal neo-nazis and soft centrist neo-nazis of reddit, it’s like pick your poison.
Reddit is quite literally an Eglin AFB psyop.
if they met moot and had their tendrils on 4chan, who is to say they haven’t on reddit after aaron died.
I only recently learned that the [word]_[word]-[number] username format is what’s assigned to new users and most don’t know how to change it.
So yeah in my head reddit is 90% bots manufacturing consent or whatever the US military wants reddit to say. They’ve done a great job obfuscating the difference between bots and people.
They’ve also been setting history to hidden by default for new accounts for a while so now can’t see if an account is a bot or other stuff they’ve done if it’s say an account posting content you enjoy.
As somebody who had a couple of those usernames because I’d regularly make new accounts and wasn’t gonna waste time coming up with clever or self identifying usernames it was equally annoying to have any valid criticism dismissed immediatly because somebody who had posted 48 times that day that kamala Harris is khalesi said you were a bot because of that username format.
But before they figured that one out it was just you getting a dozen “da, sure thing comrade ivan” comments anytime you pointed out Hillary was a dogshit candidate.
90% bots manufacturing consent or whatever the US military wants reddit to say
Most of the bots are just coincidentally manufacturing consent by reposting stale memes to farm karma to later sell the account for like 2$.
I got banned there because I called some groyper a Nazi, which they are. I tried creating new accounts, but if you subscribe to the same subreddits then Reddit recognizes it’s you and bans you anyway.
So yeah, that’s why I’m here.
It’s not subscribing to the same subreddits it’s IP, cookies and device fingerprinting bullshit. Open it in a new browser on a VPN and you’ll probably be fine, but then you run into more Reddit Fun Bullshit: you’re effectively shadowbanned everywhere until you get to some arbitrary comment karma level.
I clear my cookies after every browser session and already use a VPN, so it must be the fingerprinting then. I also don’t want to use a separate browser just for Reddit.
There’s probably ways to obfuscate the device fingerprinting but without adhd meds i am very lazy, too lazy to look it up 😔 good luck tho
anecdote, i created a fresh new throwaway email and registered with that, so far reddit is none the wiser
if you use the same browser and PC/are on the same IP address, you’ll probably eventually catch another perm ban for evasion
i got away with it for a few months a couple of times
damn, my account has lasted a month so far
this is probably junk thought but i’d say interacting in different subreddits helps you fly under the radar. after all they surely can’t ban everyone with an iphone 8, my ip address also changes a lot
but we’ll see
My account got hacked and then banned, then when I sent an appeal about being hacked they decided to go through with the ban anyway for no stated reason. Stupid ass website lmao.
Two of my accounts got banned with many nonsensical temporary bans to boot. As much as right wingers claim Reddit has a leftist bend, it’s neoliberal at best, fascist at worst.
have you seen gen x and boomers with facebook? millenials will provide iris scans to get in while they are in retirement home
I gave onlyfans my id so i could jerk it, I am fully fried and cooked
*jork it
At that point you might as as well provide the print of your ballsack for verification.
I’d rather do that than my id tbh
It would be more invasive, but also more anonymous somehow? I don’t know much about biometrics tbh
I wish it wasn’t all Unit 8200 cut outs
Uhm yeah, whatever you said.
Unit 8200 is the zionist colony’s equivalent of the NSA. a cut-out here refers to a biometrics company that operates as a commercial enterprise but funnels its data to the zionist intelligence services
I only use reddit for information or topics/things that tend to be smaller in scope and fairly niche. I have never interacted with anyone on rhe platform
i assume someone is making a browser plugin that makes new reddit look like old reddit with css?
Would that work now they’ve added login requirements to old?
if you’re just making the site render differently on you client then it shouldn’t matter.
anyway the real shit is that cookie whisp posted about
I guess I was thinking just skip the rendering changes and just go to old while it’s around.
Do wonder if the new site even loads if you have js blocked
the problem with new reddit is a lot more than just css
well yeah but if there’s an easy way to hide all the side shit, collapse posts, and make it not look like a mobile site on desktop that would be a good start.
on reddit.com manually add a cookie named redesign_optout with a value of true
Edit this cookie is one addon that will let you add the cookie, I’m sure there are userscripts to do it out there too.
sweet that worked
👍
death to reddit
Its working fine for me.
I think reddit is still successful because its one of the only places where you can still find something without any algo or log in. But stupider things have happend so whatever.
Without log in
I can read a post for about 5-10 seconds before it covers the text and tells me to download the app, so in my experience, that’s just actively untrue
I’m pretty sure old.reddit.com still works and bypasses all of that, not sure about mobile.
They literally just today made old reddit log-in only. I assumed that’s what the main post here is alluding to and it’s also why I’m looking at Lemmy for the first time in a year lol
you now have to log in to use old as of a few days ago
Well fuck.
Edit: Hmmm seems to still be working in an incognito window for me.
might be regional, hit me in australia last week using zen browser on PC, seemed to similarly go nuts on mobile over the weekend
however, accessing new reddit with a mobile browser seemed to stop throwing the “get the app or login” overlay at around the same time as old was set to login only for me, so i can at least open random links on mobile without it freezing me out after 4 comments
Doesnt work on mobile for me. Someone else posted a link to one of the reddit scrapers, so I can at least use that for looking up random stuff which reddit is occasionally useful for
on reddit.com manually add a cookie named redesign_optout with a value of true
Edit this cookie is one addon that will let you add the cookie, I’m sure there are userscripts to do it out there too.
That’s for desktop, If your mibile browser supports addons it should work to add the cookie. Cookie editor is one such addon.
Yeah if I wanna talk about say a specific movie or game or book. There arent exactly a ton of places online with active discussion. Now I dont use reddit to talk about politics…but to talk about my niche interests ? Its servicable
What they do now?
Require login on old reddit.
Probably a regional thing for now?

AFAIK it was only announced to happen soon?
For fuck sake they posted it to r/modnews rather than their site-wide announcement things.
Put old. behind a log in screen, so you need to use the shitass mobile version, download their bullshit app, or log in to be able to use the site. I created an account just to do this (i hate myself) and I’m able to use old. but everytime you open a page there’s a redirect loading screen. Hahah and I’m still using it LOOK AT THIS DUMBASS RIGHT HERE
just learn to type instead of redditdotcom redlib.nadekodotnet (good old nadeko, never hurt me)
Anubis hates me personally because I said people should reskin if they feel like doing so.
edit: I guess it’s not actually Anubis but some fork? Still doesn’t let me through.
rn it’s down 😥others work, but that’s much more convenient with big extension on pc, on the phone i just leave broken link until gets up
well goddamn
I just go to google in an incognito tab, search for reddit, click, then go to old.reddit.com I think being referred by google breaks whatever it’s trying to do
This is if you’re getting the "You’ve been blocked by network security
" message
A lot are bots are this point. I would think.

Proof that i truly am built different

(Google “reddit,” click reddit.com, type in old.reddit.com into browser and there you go. This is assuming you’re talking about it having the “you’ve been blocked by network security
” message)I think it might also be ISP bullshit going on though because lately i’ve been getting “blocked by spectrum” on piracy shit
It’s being rolled out slowly. Not everyone gets the required login screen yet, but you will eventually
then I will simply use google search as a reddit summarizer until they monetize that and then idk I guess get a chinese llm to do the same work for free if I feel the need to keep llmizing my searches
doesn’t work for me
Are you also in an incognito tab/other situation preventing cookies? If so sorry this is all the info i got
nah it always gives a login screen
ya idk then, you could try a different browser maybe?
That’s probably reddit blocking your VPN
jokes on you i don’t use a vpn
