I only recently learned that the [word]_[word]-[number] username format is what’s assigned to new users and most don’t know how to change it.

So yeah in my head reddit is 90% bots manufacturing consent or whatever the US military wants reddit to say. They’ve done a great job obfuscating the difference between bots and people.

They’ve also been setting history to hidden by default for new accounts for a while so now can’t see if an account is a bot or other stuff they’ve done if it’s say an account posting content you enjoy.

As somebody who had a couple of those usernames because I’d regularly make new accounts and wasn’t gonna waste time coming up with clever or self identifying usernames it was equally annoying to have any valid criticism dismissed immediatly because somebody who had posted 48 times that day that kamala Harris is khalesi said you were a bot because of that username format.

But before they figured that one out it was just you getting a dozen “da, sure thing comrade ivan” comments anytime you pointed out Hillary was a dogshit candidate.

Most of the bots are just coincidentally manufacturing consent by reposting stale memes to farm karma to later sell the account for like 2$.
