Ignoring the fact it’s typical unfalsifable orthodoxy bullshit, why are they even gloating about it? If Russia really become more dependant on China, it means their main enemy became more powerful and Russia itself harder to imperialise.

parenti-hands If the EV dealerships are empty it’s a sign that nobody can afford EVs, if the EV dealerships are full, it’s a sign that they’re suffering inflated fuel prices

Today I looked up a list of current gas prices in Europe. While most countries were over EUR 2 per litre, Russia was EUR 0.8 something per litre, having the cheapest gas in Europe. It could be that official prices are being kept artificially low by the evil scheming regime while the black market flourishes, it could be the numbers were outdated, it could be the source was simply lying — or it could be that Russia is an oil producing country with an abundance of fossil fuels for the domestic market.

have those prices risen a little bit recently? i could have sworn it was way lower at one point. by comparison, that’s a bit more than $3 per gallon, which is low but not unreasonably low by US standards. obviously nothing about this discounts your comment or makes the OP any less ai-hallucinated but europe always had expensive gas anyway.

  • Gas is somehow fucking 3.50 a gallon near me and I’d still give my left nut if it meant being able to buy a Chinese EV at actual chinese prices. Thanks, Joe Biden, for that 100% tariff! Thanks, highway safety losers, for lying and saying BYD cars are unsafe!

Russia’s fuel crisis is so bad that a mom and her baby waited in line for 18 hours to get gas — ‘Are we in the Soviet Union?’

“I was horrified: Are we in the Soviet Union now where you had to get coupons to buy sausage?” Sadovnikova, a 26-year-old who works in social media, told the Times.

We had someone running for city council on a platform of preventing communism because she knew what communism was like since she was adopted by an american family (Romania) in 1995. She is 34 y/o

I was baby when the USSR was kicking around and all I remember from that time is the Berlin wall and some rumors and gossip about nuclear war, maybe, some day. So to be only 34 and be like “uh yeah I lived in the soviet union” is fool shit.

I saw some clickbait thumbnail about how Ukraine just won the war and seized all of Crimea and even much of Russia. Everyone just trying to pray nonsense into existence

Don’t EVs generally suck in the cold?

Yes, but it’s a stereotype that Russians only live in areas where’s “it’s cold”. If you look at population densities/distributions of Russia, you’ll find that they live pretty much the same latitudes as other European countries.

That big blog towards the left is Moscow, the largest urban agglomeration in all of Europe. Aside from St. Petersburg (~5 million people), pretty much all the big urban agglomerations are on the same latitude or more southern than Moscow. And Moscow is on the same latitude as Copenhagen and Edinburgh. Yes it gets a little colder there in winter, but that’s just 2-3 months. No reason why EVs wouldn’t work in Russia.

While using it. But when you’re not using it the battery still has to be kept warm. Unless you’re parking in a heated )or just insulated) garage you’re still getting that loss of energy. In extreme colds you basically need to keep it plugged in to some sort of power. But that’s not much different from a gas or diesel car.

From what I’ve read the newer ones charge more easily and last longer in the cold than older ones did. I’d love to hear from someone with some experience though. I don’t know how many Hexbears are running around with newish Chinese EVs in cold climates for comparison though.

New ones are equipped with heat pumps to efficiently keep the battery at temp, but the battery is the thing powering the heat pump and heat pumps are a lot worse at heating than cooling.

Regardless, EVs don’t uniquely suck in the cold. ICE engines also lose a bunch of efficiency and range in cold weather, that’s just the name of the game.
