This dude is a natsec ghoul who isn’t against war, he’s against this war because he’s able to recognize that it’s going to blow up in the US’s face, and he thinks that we were led into it because of the secret Jewish cabal. The vox headline is dumb but they’re not wrong that he’s antisemitic.

I don’t know the correct stance to take on this, because part of me feels like saying this is israel’s war makes me feel like I’m doing the trope of pissrael wagging the dog of the usa. But on the other hand, so much of this war is literally because of israel and them wanting to do a nazi like landgrab of the middle east?

The US could bring the war to an end with a simple “Cut the shit or no more support, military or financial”

The USA is a willing partner and all of these recent ditherings are just a smokescreen to lay the blame entirely on Israel

The mistake would be to separate the colony from the empire in the first place. Israel is our unofficial 51st state that happens to specialize in fascism.

Sure AIPAC exists, but that is simply an organ of the empire that manufactures the consent for the operation; if you want to get shit done, you pay people salaries to do it.

The US embassy in Israel is mimicry of actual diplomacy and vice versa.

Israel isn’t the tail or the dog - Israel is a fake nation that functions as the gun of empire in western asia.

Israel and the US don’t have contrary “interests” they just have two different segments of the international working class to placate with rhetoric and policy.

Everyone here can see the vapid theater of US “Democracy” (Democrats/Republicans) - so, it shouldn’t be a huge leap to apply the same logic to US/Israel (or whatever vassal state is in the media on any given month).

Israel and the US don’t have contrary “interests”

they do sometimes, like how they would prefer a failed state while the mainland wants a client Iran. israel has also preferred spectacular violence at various times when e.g. ronald reagan told them to calm down because the US has other things it cares about.

Yep, the United States needs free real estate to expand into. Rather than adapt after running into the California coast, all the political and economic structures “solved” that contradiction by pivoting to immanentize the eschaton via colonialism in the Holy Land.

If that sounds a little to simplified, that’s because it is. But, in the same way as saying, “the US civil war was about slavery”.

I think most of it is because Trump and Heghead just wanted to dick wag and flex the US military and the people around them happen to be a bunch of zionists who picked an obvious target and were also high on the recent decapitation strike on Maduro.

the current spike seems to have started at bibi’s behest and now continues because of trump’s ego. the broader conflict is the bipartisan american effort to overthrow Iran.

:isntrael: wants a failed state like syria or libya

:amerikkka: would prefer a compliant puppet to make extracting oil easier but they’re probably fine with either.

the current thing doesn’t seem to me to be in america’s primary interest. When you walk a dog you have ultimate control and responsibility over it but you might go to the park and let the dog choose where to go for a while because you’re there to wander around not for the specific trees it wants to sniff.

Pithy explanation: The tail is wagging the dog, but the dog is allowing itself to be wagged.

More complicated explanation: We talk about states as if they’re unified actors, when in reality they’re complex organizations made of thousands of individuals with their own beliefs, opinions, skills, knowledge, feelings, etc., making individual decisions.

Trump is an angry, egotistical, senile old man high on success after Venezuela, and who was dumb and violent even before his brain stopped working.

Mike Huckabee is a member of an apocalypse cult and believes he’s acting to bring about the end times. Lindsey Graham also falls into this group, as do several others. Pete Hegseth is a violent alcoholic and white supremacist who just wants to kill brown people, consequences be damned.

Marco Rubio sees this as a mistake and a distraction from the more important goal of conquering Latin America - not a moral mistake just a tactical one. JD Vance… I’m not really sure what he’s thinking actually, I do actually believe he was against this (and he’s been leaking to the press as such), my guess for why is just that he knew it would be unpopular and a failure?

Oil executives have their own goals, both personally and for their business. Weapons manufacturers do too. And again for the tech billionaires.

The Israelis are mostly more unified, they want regional chaos to allow them to do more territorial expansion. Benny from Cheltenham High has been pushing every US president for decades to do it, and up until now they’ve all said “Fuck off that’s stupid and dangerous.” But with the angry, stupid, senile president surrounded by people who wanted this for various reasons, he was able to get it going.

These are just my reads of these people and their motivations, and I’ve probably got a couple of them wrong. But the point is that states aren’t single organisms, they’re made up of people with varied and conflicting goals and beliefs, which leads to complicated situations that aren’t as clearly explained by broad statements about the actions of imperial states and their puppets.

Well actually if you think about it stopping the war means less jews will die so you’re the antisemites trying to get more jews killed.
