But also buy some useless shit to sleep better

This is just a scientific vibe painted over the old superstition about running a fan at night and blowing all the oxygen out of your room.

So stupid, if you wake up freezing set the AC at 23-24C, it’ll keep the room cool ‘enough’. Also, most ACs now are very efficient and don’t just turn off and on but have many levels.

We’ve discussed the effects keeping your AC has on sleep, but the constant running could also make the unit cold to the point where it breaks. It will reduce the pressure in the evaporator or coiling coil component inside the unit until it freezes over. The freezing could cause the compressor to become damaged and result in your AC no longer working.

No, ACs have sensors to prevent that. The compressor trips. Also, in a warm environment, the inside unit coil will not freeze, if it does, something else is wrong with the AC.

you should refrain from directing a fan’ or having strong AC on throughout the night. This is because the concentrated cool air can make your muscles tense and cramp up,

Bloody hell, how low are these people setting that shit?

If it’s gonna be 90°F in my bedroom at night, you better believe I’m running that A/C

I’m not waking up in a pool of sweat after taking an extra hour to fall asleep because I’m too uncomfortable

Lmao, how much did the AI lobby pay for this ad? Are we going to start pushing fan death articles, too? Actually, just turn off the main at the breaker to save power every night. Also, get ready for the opposite article in the winter: “Should you turn off your heat at night? It’s bad for your health to maintain a constant internal body temperature, experts say.”

Thanks to your judicious use of cooling, this excess power capacity can be used by Grok to churn out yet another Hitler inspired piece of slop

soon we will all have to sacrifice everything for the datacenters.

thirsty? save that tap water here’s 10 tips on how to filter stagnant pools so your local AWS center can keep running!

rolling brownouts? here’s 10 backup generators that only cost $50,000 or more!

i find it hilarious there is an energy crisis in the U.S. when residential use was cratering thanks to LEDs, heat pumps, and insulation so the data centers immediately built like a hundred square miles of interior space in regions where demand was dropping like a stone.

they are so universally reviled, like across all political lines, i guarantee there will be attacks against them when the rolling brownouts start next year. and then you’ll see the first IOF-style armed drone swarms patrolling them the year after that. after the first groups of rednecks are picked off by unseen robots people in the U.S. will quickly and submissively accept a few hours of power a day. after all, businesses will have backup generators (so you still have to go to work!!!)

it will be like Skynet but instead of an AI superintelligence it’s a single billionaire with a smart phone

I have a smart watch that can read my skin temp and my server adjusts my fans and ac based on the reading so I am never too hot while sleeping. These experts are weak goml

In Occupied Korea, the government spread a myth about fans destroying the oxygen molecules in the air somehow in order to trick the people into using up less electricity in the summer. Some people in the country swear by this idea, to the point that they’ll die of heatstroke before they’d consider putting on a fan at night.

EDIT: Didn’t realise like every other comment mentioned fan death. I should probably read the comments before posting.
