    1. Come up with a cruel and annoying rule to harass a very small number of trans people.
    2. Oh no, it turns out it actually effects a much larger number of cis people who also [use nicknames/don’t fall into neat gender norms/etc].
    3. Just keep annoying everyone forever and feel righteous for doing so.

I imagine it’s going to be selectively enforced is the thing. As things worsen, only particular types of school employees will stick around, and I doubt they’ll be as gung-ho about harassing more “acceptable” types of people.

That’s true, cis kids will likely get away with just using nicknames as usual, especially if they’re just shortening their given names.

Obviously this is because he hates trans people but this is going to have splash damage on cis kids who like engage in fun stuff like going by a nickname in school. So Meatball Ron needs a permission slip from his parents too.

i have a feeling kids like TJ and Joey aren’t going to have this rule enforced on them, but trans-sad will

I heard elsewhere on Lemmy someone signing a permission slip for letting Benjamin be called Ben. Might just be a school doing malicious compliance in regards to the law though.

Kids these days will be tricking their parents into signing off on xXPussy_Killa69Xx the same way I tricked them into signing my permission slips

Ah but you see, children are the property of their parents and have no rights.

Unlike actual property that has more rights than most humans.

So what if I have a trans daughter named something like, idk, Joseph Robinette and she chooses to go by her legal middle name?

What if other people give you a nickname? Do I need parental permission if I want to call you Meatball Ron? Or do you need to ask your parents?

    >reactionaries ban nicknames in order to force trans kids to get deadnamed

    >reactionaries then ignore that this policy was their own doing and ask "has Big Woke gone too far and banned nicknames????"

    debord-tired

There were five kids in my grade who had the same first name. Nicknames were basically mandatory otherwise it got confusing.
