Always but super cheap vodka because, well, it’s vodka. Surely the difference can’t be significant. Anyway I bought some Beluga and wow, I’m not repulsed by this. It’s actually pretty smooth and the flavor isn’t like splashing acetone in my face. What a revalation.
It’s actually kind of pleasant
I totally get people not drinking alcohol cause its bad for you (for various reasons) but I will always be of the opinion that alcoholic drinks can just be super tasty.
If negroni’s weren’t alcoholic I would drink them 24/7. Well if they were maybe 10% as sweet anyway
Yeah I’m a simple woman, but I think “Miller Lite” actually tastes nice.
The concept of drinking alcohol to get drunk is a foreign one to me.
I enjoy a drink now and then, but I only really drink 2–3 times a month at most. Usually just a beer or two or a glass of wine.
I like getting a little buzz going but I honestly can’t remember the last time I was actually drunk. It’s probably been over a decade lol.
I enjoy drinking but im aware im a casual in many respects whent it comes to it.
It’s absurd how good a Caipirinha tastes given that it’s almost pure booze.
the worst hangovers ive ever had are from alcohols that taste good and go down easy, you just keep drinking
From my experience as a now mostly sober alcoholic (I’ll get myself a six pack maybe once a month now), it is often the sugar in the drinks that both makes it go down easy and makes the hangover hell. Back in the bad old days I could put down a 750 of Jack on a night and still manage to get up and make it to work at 430 the next morning for my McDonald’s prep shift. The woman I dated at the time sometimes would make me drinks instead, and when she did I would feel like absolute death the next day.
Now am mid 30s and the last 6 pack I drank had me feeling anxious and gross for two whole days. It’s not worth it anymore.
Only time alcohol has tasted good to me is when the taste of the alcohol is completely masked.
I mean depending on what you mean that is a lot of cocktails that would fall under that category. Or stuff like Hugo , Eggnog etc. EDIT Frankly lots of alcoholic beverages dont just taste like high percentage alcohol .
Then the thing that makes the drink taste good is the dilution of alcohol and it would taste better with none
I see where you’re coming from, even if I don’t agree.
At the end of the day, tastes are subjective, so fair enough.
I did used to agree with this, but I just got a really nice vodka and my mind has been changed.
Strongly agree. Moscow mules and old fashioneds my beloved
I have had better vodka. I am aware it is smoother and tastes better. But I am not trying to enjoy drinking, I am trying to get through another week of this godforsaken life. Thus, I will drink the cheap vodka, MD20/20, and if I’m feeling fancy, a giant margarita from a local mexican restaurant.
When I was in my early 20s we would mix half a bottle of MD20/20 with cheap vodka
Undergrad’s delight
Admittedly when I was buying cheap vodka it was to treat (badly) my chronic insomnia so I get it. Been a while since I drank so I decided to have something nice
Your stomach will not accept that eventually.
It’s like 2 drinks once a week, I’ll be fine
Yeah, yer good then
Hard disagree. Now CHEAP vodkas (the ones in plastic jugs) taste like industrial grade solvents, but there is very little difference between mid-grade (Stoli, Absolut) and premium except for price and fanciness of the bottle.
Admittedly I jumped from industrial grade solvents to what the internet said was good russian vodka. The difference is substantial but I woudln’t be shocked if I over paid by a bit lol.
If you are in america.
Which part is specific to America?
I had aged tequila in Mexico and that was next level good. no shitty taste, it was straight plant nectar and delicious af I could not believe how smooth and delicious it was. 17 yr old and 22 yr old I think.
seriously it was glorious.
Same! I have a friend from mexico who brought me some very nice tequila and homemade pulque. Both of them were outstanding. Sort of frustrated by it though because I will never enjoy the tequila available to me as much as I did before.
I have been chasing that dragon to no avail in the states.
My only advice is learn a limited amount of spanish, live close to the border, and be social tbh. I got lucky in that I met my friend as a teenager.
If you live in the north it is what it is

is it good tequila or bad tequila that tastes a little bit “peppery”?
Honestly I haven’t had any tequila I would describe as peppery but I definitely wouldn’t describe the nice tequila I had as peppery
reposado is the only way to do tequila outside of a margarita
Good tequila and mezcal are divine
This sounds like the beginning of bad news in a decade.
Hopefully not. I have been far better at managing my substances in recent years. The vodka is good but it is for sharing. My mental health is solid for now.
Vodka and Monster was my go to drink before I went sober.
goddam
Alcohol is bad for you. It should taste bad. I like drinking moonshine forn that reason. I get china’s own red star baijiou. It tastes bad, also it is bad. It is strong enough you don’t need to drink much thougg
I get china’s own red star baijiou. It tastes bad, also it is bad.
i’ve drank some questionable shit but red star bailjiu is the stuff that was gonna kill me i think. it tasted like animal feed and jet fuel and was completely unmixable in any cocktail i could think to make. i have no idea how tf i was supposed to drink that stuff
Maotai is fucking horrendous, I love it.
Although its probably the mental association of drinking it with uncles and cousins during spring festival as a kid.
Ming river baiju (recommended by chinese netizens on red note!) tasted like cough syrup and I will never recover from it tbh. Can’t recommend avoiding it enough. So many people enjoy baiju that it has to be good but I don’t get the appeal.
Putting 二锅头 in a hip flask to force yourself to take smaller sips of it so as to not get too drunk too quickly in the park or at your friend’s kid’s christening or working as a line cook or watching Avatar: The Way of Water in a cinema. Real professional alcoholic hours
It is like riding a shopping cart into a shrubbery. You know it is going to hurt, the fun is the knowing self destruction and overcoming it
i have no idea how tf i was supposed to drink that stuff
5ml at a time spaced out by however long it takes to forget just how bad the previous sip was
It is a drink that is also an adventure. It is platonic BDSM in a glass.
Mixing it is a bad plan. That just makes it stay around longer.
I gave a shot to a friend the other day. She looked at me betrayed and almost cried.
You sip it gently with a spicy meal. Or you slam a doubble shot with the spirit of communism as a chaser. Only viable options. It tastes bad and you just have to endure the suffering.
It tastes bad and you just have to endure the suffering.
Why not drink something good instead?
Why climb a mountain whe you could walk a gentle path?
Plus it is cheap and strong. I never like any alcohol. I hate the taste. So I am just as happy getting it over with. Plus it is chinese and that warms my tanky heart
Why climb a mountain whe you could walk a gentle path?
This is a slogan i can get behind.
I think I am in the minority when I say the moonshine my friend made was pretty decent. Never bought moonshine off the shelf though so it could be shit in that context.
Good moonshine is truly delightful, if you know the right guy.
Good moonshine is not, infact, what I got
Crap I’m a massive sino nerd and now I need to get some of that.
You will do things no one else can do because you have tasted things no one else can taste.
I’ve had vodka, tastes like hand sanitizer imo
Why are you tasting hand sanitizer?
CW: alcohol abuse
Admittedly I have been down bad enough (we don’t talk about those times) and it does not taste like hand sanitizer at all. Cheap vodka taste like how hand sanitizer smells but the hand sanitizer has a bitterant and taste nothing like how it smells.
Dont drink hand sanitizer. Literally just shoplift mouthwash if you are down that bad. Hand sanitizer is like…so bad for you to injest.
I will never be that down bad again if I can help it. A lot of development has happened since that time, thankfully. I’m a lot better and have a mostly healthy relationship with mind altering substances in general (if you don’t count coffee lol)
Some insufferable clown in my 11th grade english class ingested hand sanitizer “as a joke”.
Was immediately sent to the nurse’s office by the teacher.
Yeah that’s what I meant
Sorry, in hindsight that probably should have clicked.
I’ve been messing with electronics since a kid, and using isopropyl alcohol as a cleaning agent a few years after that.
Took a shot of whisky in my 21st birthday. My subconscious immediately went “WHY DID YOU TAKE A SWIG OF RUBBING ALCOHOL!?”
The shampoo thing is so fucking real though. It’s upsetting how much of a difference it makes for my hair.
Naw, I use horse shampoo and it works wonders. I used to get nasty dandruff (anti-dandruff shampoos and conditioners are a scam) but now I have a glorious mane
Brand? I have a form of cradle cap that has been awful to treat if I want to keep curls. What do you use?
I’ve been using original formula mane & tail shampoo & conditioner. I lather up my hair twice, making sure to massage my scalp with it, and I let the conditioner sit for a couple minutes while I wash the rest of my body.
I used to use head & shoulders but funnily enough my dandruff cleared up when I switched to Kirkland shampoo (also a decent shampoo but I prefer mane & tail)
I also had seborrheic dermatitis for years. It got so bad on my face that it would bleed in the winter. Head and Shoulders did nothing, but an antifungal (ketoconazole 1%) shampoo completely knocked it out, and I haven’t had an outbreak in years. I use Nizoral.
Or buy shit vodka and put it through a Brita filter a few times
This can work, but the cost of filters makes it not worth it.
So only if you can get free/cheap filters
Abominable behavior
you could also dissolve peeps in it
Beluga noble is the bees knees followed by Russian standard. No idea why I like only those two but I can’t stand any other kind
Specifically the one I got. So smoove. Russian standard is something I am tempted to try
It burns a bit more but I enjoy it more than the Latvian, polish, French, American, and Ukrainian vodkas I’ve tried over the years.
Just dropped $42 for a handle of absolut today. The days of $17 popov are finally behind me. A buddy of mine had so many popov bottles under his bed, we coulda/shoulda made a raft out of them

Good vodka that doesnt break the bank. If you chill it first it basically has no flavour at all
I wish my liver was healthy enough to drink. Maybe someday it will recover.
Duch Puszczy next
