Rodriguez gives no date for vote despite pledging elections at UN

This is completely in line with the previous PSUV position. It’s not even a concession. They have always maintained that they have free and fair elections. She is the rightful legal successor to Maduro, and she is promising to uphold the existing democratic norms of her country. That she isn’t taking an outwardly hostile tone towards the nation which enjoys total military superiority over them during a diplomatic mission at the UN may come across as a betrayal to certain ultra-leftists in the US, but it would seem that the Chavistas in Venezuela do not share the same view.

“Venezuela has initiated a process of democratic transformation for its rebirth, an orderly, institutional, and verifiable process, to build a country that is freer for all, more prosperous, and more reconciled with itself,” said Rodriguez.

Fucking traitorous animal is selling the country out to the bougies. This is the end of Chavismo, there is no other way to characterise what she is saying here. She certainly doesn’t mean that the proletariat will be freer, she means the country will be freer for the bougies.

Anyone believing this nonsense still is genuinely fucking coping. Delcy is a rat handing over the country’s resources to the US and laying the foundations for liberalism to take over the country and undo everything socialism has achieved.

Personally, I try to view the Chavistas themselves, who the commune movement is supporting, and who is most actively opposing Delcy Rodriguez as my way of viewing the situation. I begin with the class struggle as it actively exists in Venezuela, with the PSUV in charge of what has never been a consolidated revolution. Class struggle is incredibly sharp in Venezuela, with a powerful bourgeoisie that at the moment stands in opposition to the PSUV, while the PSUV still holds support on the ground from the commune movement.

This, to me, spells the actions of the PSUV post-kidnapping as a survival tactic and strategic retreat to hopefully prevent a ground invasion. I do not have a clear-sighted view, but I do have more trust in the fact that on the ground, the commune movement supports the PSUV, while the bourgeoisie still opposes the PSUV. If the PSUV collapses and/or alienates the communes, then we will know that this strategic retreat was incorrect. For now, that moment is not here.

Venezuela is not socialist. It never has established a dictatorship of the proletariat. What it has is a progressive party and an incomplete revolution, one that at the moment most lives on in the commune movement. The PSUV plays a progressive role as long as it continues to have connection with that commune movement and help progress it, essentially forming dual power. This is what makes the Chavista revolution so unique, it’s a combination of a reformist party needing to actually rely on revolutionary dual power structures to continue existing.

All she has done is promise elections at an undetermined point, which as others have said is consistent PSUV policy.

Thanks, comrade! I also see this as a particularly interesting revolution because I expect it to have many lessons for the US if the DSA ever took power, which is relevant to me as someone organizing in the US. We know reformism is a dead-end, but what if groups were building dual power and established ties with the DSA? What should Marxist-Leninists do if the wave of DSA support continues, when we know it cannot establish socialism within the capitalist state apparatus?

The lessons from the Chavista revolution can help inform movement in the US. Obviously conditions are vastly different. There’s no empire pressuring the US, and there’s no dual-power movement either. But studying the Venezuelan experience with the sort of reform-revolution going on right now gives us a glimpse into what one potential future of organizing in the US Empire itself may look like.

Again, I’m not a reformist, nor am I advocating for the DSA.

yes its very inspiring to people in europe as well. LFI, melanchons party in france, is thinking of a similar strategy of using presidential power to create room for bigger mobilizations and dual power.

the party im is is pretty classically marxist-leninist, but we advocate for learning from all movements. and in the french 2027 presidential elections it has been a big topic of conversation.

            • If Anna Louise Strong is to be believed, they tried.

Across this iron ring the starving people of the new state sent appeal after appeal to all those governments which refused to deal with them but especially to President Wilson. Beginning on November 24, 1918, and repeating their query through Raymond Robins, head of the American Red Cross in Russia, and also by direct cables to the State Department, they offered to consider any peace terms whatever: recognition of debts, concessions of territory, control of mines and natural resources. Rather than deal in any way with Bolsheviks, Wilson and the Allied governments sitting in Versailles issued a call to all the “organized groups in Russia” to meet at the Principo Islands, a proposal which clearly presaged the dividing of Russia into spheres of influence after the style of China. The Bolsheviks were not invited, but they accepted; the other governments refused and the scheme fell through. There followed the famous trip of William Christian Bullitt to Moscow in March 1919 as President Wilson’s semi-official representative. The hard-pressed Soviet government was ready to agree to Bullitt’s proposal that it accept all financial obligations of all past Russian governments, and divide the territory of Russia among all those governments which should be in armed possession when the treaty should be signed. But the treaty was never signed; President Wilson refused to receive the report of his own envoy. Bolsheviks were made to realize that no peace can be had from the imperialist powers of earth by any backward nation. Not even the price of slavish submission buys peace for China; nor could the offer of territory and gold buy it for Russia.

If anyone says anything except that Delcy is doing right by Venzuela, just carrying on in the face of imperialism and doing what Maduro would have if he could have, they get labeled an idealist ultra who can’t understand material analysis, or a doomer without any revolutionary optimism. I’ve lamented it in the past.

Ah yes, we are disconnected from things, when you can’t even get what we are actually arguing correct.

You will set us up in a position we weren’t arguing for and then declare victory if things go your way, despite the fact that you are basically just on some polymarket bullshit, where your pride in whatever vibes-based opinion you have formed is, for some reason, so much more important than the opinions of the people whose lives are actually on the line here, that you can completely outright dismiss them WITHOUT EVEN READING THEM.

Yeah, if we are coping, you are seething.

You don’t even have a firm position you are arguing. You simultaneously argue that the revolution is strong, continuous, undefeated and this is only a momentary retreat - while also arguing that Venezuela cannot win a war or resist and has to give in. Those are contradictions. You are the one with the incoherent positions.

A socialist project that “must” give in to American demands and control of their economy is not “strong” or “undefeated” and ownership is not “momentary”. It is an accelerating feedback loop that has destroyed almost every socialist project in history.

Same, for the most part, but I will qualify that by adding: while I don’t care that they have opinions I think are wrong, I do care about their smug relentless ridiculing of anyone who doesn’t agree with them, because that behavior has a real silencing effect on the kind of discussions that can be had, especially in the newsmega. They have this obnoxious air of superiority and insistence that only they are capable of doing material analysis, and only they know the minds of Delcy and any other leader of any state or movement that is the target of imperialism.

Their response to anyone unhappy with Venezuela’s “opening up” or the transition to “full democracy” isn’t to simply disagree and have a dialectical back and forth, it’s to tell you literally to shut up, as seen multiple times even in this thread. If you express any doubt that what is happening with Venezuela is totally good and all part of the socialist plan, then you are shamed and shouted down as being a stupid western lib ultra who doesn’t understand the 5D chess that Delcy is playing. You’ll even be accused of secretly wanting to see all Venezuelans get killed in a futile attempt to defy the US. And not just in whatever thread the discussion is happening, but in snide remarks in completely unrelated threads. I remember one comment using the solidarity emote to equate the people in the newsmega concerned about Venezuela with Zionists. It would be nice to just say I don’t care that they’re wrong, but in reality I sure as fuck don’t want to stick around somewhere where I’m compared to a Zionist because I think it’s possible for a socialist state to make an error. And I know I’m not the only one, because as @purpleworm@hexbear.net also pointed out, we’ve lost a number of people who used to push back against their smug superiority, people who made important contributions to the discussions and added unique non-western perspectives in the newsmega. And I do care about that.

This goes to show you are just an instigator. Myself and plenty of others have very directly explained and discussed this topic for months, with no hostility. Our points are ignored, as well as our questions of how firmly cemented opposing positions are justified, like smugly suggesting an entire movement of millions of people is “dead,” a term used over and over about these actual people who actually have to deal with what is going on, yet you have the audacity to call us smug for pushing back against people claiming chavistas are not actual revolutionaries. Why are you lot allowed to declare millions of people actively in an ongoing struggle as not revolutionary enough but clutch pearls when we point out you are not only ignorant as fuck but also showing your complete lack of understanding of the very foundation of Marxist analysis? You are really going to cast stones on an entire nation and then cry when you get called out?

and only they know the minds of Delcy and any other leader of any state or movement that is the target of imperialism.

No, this is what we are pushing back against. It is you all who claim to know delcy is a comprador, despite there not being any validity to the claim. You are a hypocrite, plain and simple, assuming you know the inner motivations of a person you just heard about for the first time.

s to tell you literally to shut up, as seen multiple times even in this thread.

Again, this has been going on for months. Mao is famous for telling people to shut up if they don’t know what they are talking about. After months of asking people what evidence they have for their positions and being ignored with our own evidence, we are validated in pulling the no investigation no right to speak card. And since you are all parroting imperialist and white supremacist positions that only result in dead Venezuelans, the utter disgust you deserve in holding such positions warrants no kindness or civility.

used to push back against their smug superiority, people who made important contributions to the discussions and added unique non-western perspectives in the newsmega.

You are obviously editorializing what that user said and honestly it is more insidious, using actual problems of HB culture pushing people out that have, to my knowledge, literally nothing to do with the topic of Venezuela. The majority of the users who have been pushed out of here were pushed away for unwavering solidarity with oppressed people, and a toxic white supremacist and Zionist vein that is emulated in the anti-venezuela position the same as it has been in the Islamophobic positions, the anti-Iran positions, and the anti-Black and Indigenous positions some users seem to have have. When you all declare millions of Black and Indigenous Venezuelans dead and calling their president a rat when they aren’t even doing that themselves, you look like a freak. It is weird behavior and I hope more people push back against it

                edit:

just to put in the effort to back up my positions and the slander from this instigator, I went back and checked my own comments for the past year, my interactions with him and other users on the topic of Venezuela, and my instances of telling people to “shut up” as he later claims I have done to him numerous times.

the one time I’ve told someone to shut up on HB in the past year was 22 hrs ago in an edit to a comment I made to an entirely different user. saying to shut the fuck up about things they don’t know about after they blamed venezuela for not joining BRICS when they were vetoed by Brazil at the time. as always, these people just make shit up and then heap it onto real people who actually have to deal with the material consequences and yeah I finally said shut the fuck up. if people can just make shit up and get away with it, I can tell them to shut the fuck up since it has no effect on them and they keep doing it anyway, whats the problem? is tone policing me more important than acknowledging that there are people here just saying shit with no evidence?

I want to be thorough because this is ongoing for months and now I am being mischaracterized by instigators.

here is the one interaction I’ve had with that user, 5 months ago: https://hexbear.net/comment/7126043

please read my responses and see that there was no hostility at all. this user has created a fake person and is showing a completely unwarranted level of aggression to me because they have a months long narrative that I am bad for things I didn’t do. here they are a month after that comment alluding to me like a freak, continuing to work themselves up about people pushing back against bad takes: https://hexbear.net/comment/7195965

here’s my first comment about the situation on Venezuela, 9 months ago:

It signals to Russia and China that any investment in Venezuela will disappear and be a net loss. This keeps Venezuela in a position where no one will help them and the sanctions will eventually deteriorate their popular support until someone who is willing to work for the US is in charge. It also signals to all of Latin America that if they choose leaders who are not US puppets, their country will be destroyed until they do.

from the start, I have made it clear that my position is that the US’s goal is to erode support for Venezuela. in the west, all support for venezuela is from leftists, so spreading unfounded lies “delcy is a rat comprador and chavismo is dead” only serves US strategic goals by pushing leftists away from internationalism and critical support. since there is clearly no evidence proving it to be the case, and plenty of actual venezuelans and other leftist with a more nuanced analysis, putting all your eggs in the “delcy is for sure a traitor” basket makes you look like you really really want venezuela to be in a worse situation than it probably is in, and why? so you can say you were right to jump ship immediately? cowardly, but useful for a select group of the most powerful people in the world

here is the first struggle session I participated in on the topic, 8 months ago: https://hexbear.net/post/7603104/6906638

Can we end the cope about Venezuela’s revolution continuing? It’s over unless the people rise up and overthrow these compradors

here is a quote from your bff saying that venezuela’s revolution is over, it is run by compradors, and anyone who believes otherwise is coping. This is the beginning of any of this exchange. The first shots of the behavior you are so upset about came from the other side, and you are an utter stooge.

my first comment in that thread: What fighting are you doing aside from shit posting about the people who actually live a constant war against imperialism?

from my second comment in that thread: so I’m wondering what your experience is to be able to have any transferable lessons for the Bolivarian revolution.

oo so hostile for me to say I was wondering what their experience was!

from my third comment : Your idealist doomerism is even forcing you to make up arguments to fight instead of acknowledging the things other people are saying, you’ve done it with multiple different people in this thread. I didn’t make any arguments about white saviors, nor that anyone has to be of a certain identity to make observations and describe them. You are reaching, desperately.

calling out the exact same behavior yall are all still doing 8 months later. use a headline or a quote from trump to decide the entire fate of a nation and the people in it, ignore the counter points of the people who push back, and then throw strawman after strawman, often accusing the other side of saying things that they never said (this is a text platform, its all written here for us to see you know?) and then continuing to ignore. then when the topic comes back up later, you rinse and repeat.

everyone here can go read all my comments and see that I have for the most part been entirely peachy, very direct, based on facts, and inviting of evidence to the contrary. I actually expected to see more hostility from me based on the total crash out and aggression from this person, and was pleasantly surprised to see very little from me. I might have been a little cheeky here and there, but my newfound disgust that this has been almost a year of this shit is inspiring me to be more combative of the absolute lies and falsehoods and luckily it is all there for anyone to go check if they just look. you are disgraceful

This goes to show you are just an instigator.

Oh fuck off, I have never “instigated” shit. I lurked on the newsmega, speaking up a few times only to defend comrades with sensible analysis getting bullied for having an opinion different than yours, people being hounded for having the audacity to say that the leadership running Venezuela now may be making terrible mistakes. And after that, I fucking left. I barely read it now even though it used to be an enjoyable part of my daily routine. I’m sure you’ll celebrate that though, because that’s your intent, to drive out any dissent so that you can have an echo chamber where everyone falls in line with how you say things are, period. And yet you call me the instigator? Yeah, you can fuck right off.

Myself and plenty of others have very directly explained and discussed this topic for months, with no hostility.

Maybe so! But if you haven’t been dishing out hostility like you used to (which I doubt) it’s only because you were successful at driving out anyone who dared question your omniscience. I check in from time to time, see the same garbage being spewed, and go back to reading the news on the rest of HB or other ML news sources that aren’t infected with a panglossian clique. But there certainly was plenty of hostility from you. It’s why I spoke up months ago, as seen in my account history, and why I left. But again, I doubt that it’s true there has been no hostility, it’s possible, but I certainly don’t trust you to tell the truth, considering the falsehoods you’re saying even in the comment I’m responding to now.

Our points are ignored, as well as our questions of how firmly cemented opposing positions are justified, like smugly suggesting an entire movement of millions of people is “dead,” a term used over and over

I never said any such thing, and I’m suspicious about your claim that someone else did, but maybe so. I definite would not say it’s dead but I would say it is being threatened not just by the imperialist US but also by the capitulation of its leadership to the imperialists. But you can keep going and lying about what people are saying, it doesn’t actually help your position the way you think it does.

about these actual people who actually have to deal with what is going on, yet you have the audacity to call us smug for pushing back against people claiming chavistas are not actual revolutionaries.

You’re just going to make a long list of my supposed crimes and none of them are going to remotely resemble reality, aren’t you? It seems clear all you can do is lie when called out on your bullshit. It’s pathetic.

Why are you lot allowed to declare millions of people actively in an ongoing struggle as not revolutionary enough

First of all, unlike you, I am not a member of any “you lot,” I spoke up to try to curb what I saw as a nasty current in the newsmega that was ruining a community I enjoyed being a part of from the sidelines. Unlike you, I am not part of a group that is trying to police the kind of analysis that is allowed in the newsmega, I’m not the one dedicated to stamping out any analysis that dares to include the fact that even socialist states are not perfect and pristine and always know exactly the right thing to do in a hostile, complex, and ever-changing world. So I guess I am part of a group if being part of that group just means remembering what happened in the early 1990s and having concerns that something similar is within the realm of possibility. And see, that’s another part of it, I freely admit that I don’t know for sure what’s going to happen but I refuse to rule out negative possibilities like those of you who insist that all of this is absolutely for the best which is an undeniable fact that is beyond questioning and any questioning is actually doing an imperialism. Massive eye roll.

As for the ongoing struggle of millions of people, it is literally my uncritical support of them and a desire to act in solidarity with them as best I can that leads me to have fears regarding what their leadership is doing, which to me and other principled communists (some of whom are in this thread as well), it sure as hell looks a lot like betrayal.

but clutch pearls when we point out you are not only ignorant as fuck but also showing your complete lack of understanding of the very foundation of Marxist analysis?

And there it is, that’s your typical bullshit. There has been excellent analysis not from me, but from others who do not toe your line, those who come to mind are @InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net and @Leegh@hexbear.net. But in response to their analysis, your first reaction is to screech things like how they’re “ignorant as fuck” and unlike you aren’t real Marxists. You’re so full of shit with all your whining and fit throwing about the supposed “pearl clutching” of people who don’t think you actually know as much as you pretend to. “If you don’t agree with my analysis [which depends on knowing the minds of the post-Maduro Venezuelan leadership] then you completely lack understanding of the foundation of Marxism!” You say that to people who have been reading Marxist theory for more than two decades and applying it in the real world through organizational work, community building, and direct aid to families who need it, but your reasoning for telling any Marxist who disagrees with you that they’re not real Marxists like you are, always just comes down to you somehow knowing the inner machinations of Venezuelian leadership, and lying, as you have throughout your comments to me. When you do that, you’re trying to con us into accepting you’re telepathic, and calling it analysis - analysis that can’t be argued with. It’s not analysis when you’re being a petty tantrum-throwing crybaby because others dared to disagree with your magically unimpeachable conclusions. I’d say trying to reason with you is just as bad as trying to get through to a dyed in the wool liberal but it’s actually worse because you should know better.

You are really going to cast stones on an entire nation and then cry when you get called out?

More of your bullshit and lies. Making up absolutely absurd accusations to throw at your detractors. Yeah, I’m “casting stones on an entire nation.” Wut. It would be laughable if it weren’t so aggravating. I never “cast stones on an entire nation,” well… not Venezuela anyway, and neither did anyone else you’re trying to bury in your bullshit accusations. THINKING THAT WHAT IS HAPPENING, WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE KIDNAPPING OF THE HEAD OF STATE AND THE FOLLOWING CAPITULATION WITH THE US IS NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF VENEZUELA AS AN ANTI-IMPERIALIST COUNTRY is nothing at all like the lies you’re accusing me of. And for the record, I wasn’t even “called out,” I spoke up in defense of others that you and your clique were constantly shitting on.

It is you all who claim to know delcy is a comprador, despite there not being any validity to the claim. You are a hypocrite, plain and simple, assuming you know the inner motivations of a person you just heard about for the first time.

Ok, show me anywhere, anywhere where I claimed to know her inner motivations. You can’t, because I never did. I’m not the one whose understanding and “analysis” of the situation heavily relies on faith that Delcy and the current Venezuelan leadership can do no wrong and are masterful 5D chess players whose moves you alone can magically see for what they are. I never even called her a comprador, but I committed the evil crime of considering the possibility she might be, oh no! She may or may not be, I honestly don’t know, but I do know it really isn’t looking good. We’re half way through the looking like, walking like, and quacking like phase, so I am fine with saying that yes, I am worried that it might be a duck.

No, this is what we are pushing back against. It is you all who claim to know delcy is a comprador, despite there not being any validity to the claim. You are a hypocrite, plain and simple, assuming you know the inner motivations of a person you just heard about for the first time.

So you’re really just going to flat out do the “every accusation a confession” thing, I see. Bad look on a supposed principled communist. I speak for no one else, but personally I never once pretended to know what Delcy’s inner, private motivations are and it’s an absurd thing to say that I did. To the contrary, I openly admit I do not know what is going on in her head, if she is knowingly selling her country out, or if she genuinely thinks that she’s saving the movement. I go by her actions, which include unnecessarily praising the president of the country that kidnapped her president and murdered some of her comrades, opening up to western capital, and as the title of this OP states, talking about “transitioning fully to democracy.” My position is entirely based on what has actually happened and unlike yours, does not rely on pretending to know her mind. So no, the hypocrite is clearly you, who has to invent secret inner motivations to preserve your cope that all of this complicity and kowtowing to the US is somehow obviously done for the benefit of Venezuela.

You are obviously editorializing what that user said and honestly it is more insidious, using actual problems of HB culture pushing people out that have, to my knowledge, literally nothing to do with the topic of Venezuela. The majority of the users who have been pushed out of here were pushed away for unwavering solidarity with oppressed people

As a point of information, the example I gave was indeed unrelated to Venezuela but had to do with the criticism part of the critical support of China and going beyond the complete redwashing of their government even where it was historically deeply infected with if not captured by liberals. This I believe would fall into the opposite category of what you characterize as “unwavering solidarity for oppressed people”. I’m sure there are also cases like you describe as well, though.

Have you ever held power? Had any kind of actual responsibility? Or are you just a spectator in the power struggles of other people like every other western leftist? An audience to power and responsibility where politics basically just resembles fantasy sports?

It’s not cope if you are actually listening to what real chavistas, people who are in the game and who this shit affects directly, are saying. Literally just shut up, stop complaining, and listen. It’s not that difficult.

Literally just shut up, stop complaining, and listen

Yes, that’s the exact attitude I was referring to, what has turned the newsmega from once a great source into being completely unendurable. A clique of pollyannas and panglossians. “Shut up and stop complaining. Oh and listen to chavistas[sic], but really just listen to us, because we know exactly what all of them say because they’re a monolith and agree with our analysis, and are all universally happy about how things have gone down in their country. What, you disagree? You must want them all to get shot and bombed, you doomer ultra!”

When did I say everything was fine? That things were going just dandy? Where have the chavistas ever said that? You wouldn’t know because you clearly haven’t read them or what they are saying about this. Actually cite my arguments. Actually cite them and their arguments. Quote anything that isn’t some imaginary dialogue that only occured in your head. How is what you are doing anything other than spectator chants and chauvinism from the peanut gallery?

I would maybe take you even slightly more seriously if you didn’t have this penchant for asinine literary comparisons as if because you reference Voltaire means that you are better than a liberal who references Harry Potter, and for putting words in my mouth.

The reality is that the Venezuela issue is a litmus test for who on the left have ever politically organized and who is exclusively a leftist on the internet. Anyone who has actually spent years earnestly and sincerely struggling with the masses against our oppressors know that the task is arduous and you will often fail. The history of communism is mostly a history of failure, bad decisions, mistakes, tentative alliances and agreements with objectively bad people. Tactical retreats and even losses are the norm, not the exception. Survival of the project in the long term is the only path forward, and no one here who is criticizing delcy has even once out forward and idea of what could have been done differently to put Venezuela in a better situation than they are currently in. Only vaguely hand waiving and saying “resist.” Like a liberal at a no kings rally. No strategy, no analysis, just empty headed critiques founded in a fictional reality completely detached from the material world

those real chavistas had better be mobilizing because in spite of your “assurances” i have enough sense to see where the wind is blowing which isn’t difficult it’s true. it takes the thinnest fraction of a self saving maneuver for venzuela to go from this proclamation to gas station under a neoliberal puppet and no lack of experience disqualifies me from saying that out loud

I’d say our lack of experience entirely disqualifies any of us from having any real kind of opinion on this. This is basic Maoist bullshit. We are getting all of our opinions in the situation through whatever journalists are willing and able to publish.

This is not real knowledge of a situation. This is a spectacle of a situation. We don’t know where the wind is blowing, we can only get an abstract sense of it. There is nothing scientific about anything we are doing here.

Stop making predictions and proclamations and sit, wait and listen. This isn’t sports.

Then why the hell do you get to be the one to tell others to shut up and stop complaining? If none of us know, then neither do you.

If you really do think that literally all of us should just “shut up and listen” without pushing your own opinion (an insistence that everything happening is obviously great and for the best) as the only Correct and True Materialist Analysis, then you are in the minority of the clique that usually tells anyone concerned about what’s happening in and with Venezuela that they’re ignorant ultras, or worse.

Look at what I have said on this topic elsewhere. This is a critical junction point for this government. We will have to see and wait for what happens. Not what is said, what actually happens. We cannot be proclaiming that the sky is falling and socialism is doomed because of a speech. Socialism is not made from public addresses.

The commune movement in Venezuela is where the actual revolution is, it’s essentially building dual power. Venezuela has never been socialist, and has never had a dictatorship of the proletariat. When you claim the battle is lost because the reformist party friendly to the revolutionary communes is forced to make dramatic concessions and retreats, you’re ignoring the fundamental revolutionary process going on that is steadily growing to replace the old bourgeois state power in Venezuela.

The communes are the revolution. The communes are building dual power. The communes have not lost. The PSUV is not an active obstacle to the communes. Anyone that was expecting the PSUV to establish a dictatorship of the proletariat through reformism has a critical misunderstanding about the nature of the capitalist state and the necessity of smashing it and replacing it. It’s more like if the Provisional Government was won by a social democratic group, and the Soviets had not yet built dual power to challenge its legitimacy.

what i think is that you and other commenters here are very quick to give up on socialist projects. declaring them “lost”. lost to whom? being cannonfodder for the western left? the venezuelan communes have not declared the revolution to be lost and i think it is for them to decide when to completely split with the government, abandon all the gain since 1990 etc. and that would for sure be in the news.

my point is not “ah there is a positive spin to this”. not everything has to be positive in a revolution! if you organise for more than a week you will encounter setbacks. its not all sunshine and roses.

Which one is it? Are you pro China but anti Venezuela because Venezuela is doing what China does? You realize the IMF opened a new center in Shanghai just a year ago right? Obviously these organizations are who they are but to clutch pearls at Venezuela for being forced to deal with them due to the way the global economy is structured when almost every other nation also deals with them is very hypocritical.

be consistently against all the nations and organizations who participate or have the awareness to understand that in the reality of political organizing you often have to choose between a selection of mostly terrible options in an attempt to do the most right by your people. We can all lament the individual tactics and choices made and acknowledge that the situation is awful without blaming the victims forced by us imperialism to do these things.

Edit: also, Venezuela literally tried to join brics and was blocked by brazil, so your false premises yet again crumble under the weight of material reality. cHiNa aNd BrIcS aRe RiGhT tHeRe shut the fuck up about things you have idea about

I did not say Venezula has done the same things as China has done. Don’t know where you got that.

We all have been around enough to see what the US and IMF does. Maybe i am a bit presumptuous to expect her to buck the US and lean into the East for assistance after such a strong headed fighter like maduro-salute and expecting his VP to resist the empire as much.

The BRICS Denial was a sabatoge play by US-Bolsonaro linked crony. I am surprised we didn’t see more movement on this or appeals.

Blaming the victims? I am blaming Rodriguez. Thus I addressed “She”, not the people of Venzuela who have been through double hells we with the usurping of Maduro and the quakes. It is up to them to hold her accountable. All I can do from the outside is express my discontent of the situation and what I see about to go down knowing how the imperial core operates, their history, and their aims.

The IMF is majority controlled by the United States. which has used it’s veto majority power within the IMF to bully and deny Venezuela. China, while a member, does not have enough share to push the lever against the US here. international-community-1international-community-2 has 9 times the voting power than global south.

China respects sovereignty. The US does not, and brags openly about it.

If Rodriguez and her dynatsy head of National Assembly brother Jorge pull it off and get this to actually not vulture out Venezuela in some 5D chess moves I will happily sign my Rodriguez appology card.

I am saying they are doing the same thing China has done, and pointing out the hypocrisy of criticizing delcy but not being a fervent maoist who hates Deng and everything China has done since.

            I am blaming Rodriguez

Why? What evidence do you have that she is unilaterally in control of what is going on? This is liberal great man theory. This is “Stalin killed millions and ate all the grain with a big spoon” analysis. Her entire party is consulting her and voting as a unified bloc. The communes they represent are unified with them. It makes no sense to blame one person for this, please tell me how I am wrong on that.

All I can do from the outside is express my discontent

Here’s how I would express discontent, and many here have done it: wow there’s a lot of terrible stuff going on, I hope Venezuelan people are going to be okay!

Here’s how other people are doing it: delcy is a rat fuck comprador who deserves the wall, chavismo is dead and Venezuela is a US colony that is entirely controlled by marco rubio

Do you see how one of these is a normal and healthy emotional response and the other is using those emotions to extrapolate a fully formed concrete analysis?

If Rodriguez and her dynatsy head of National Assembly brother Jorge

Don’t forget maduros dynasty son who is also in unity with them and PSUV’s other dynasty politicians and the millions of commune members in their dyna- oh wait somehow it’s not a dynasty anymore it’s just the political establishment that has been in power the whole time

For what it’s worth, I will also admit I was wrong if any real evidence emerges that delcy did a coup. My position has always been that the movement is in the masses, not the politicians, and if they turn against her then I will remain on their side as I am now
