Tangentially related to cyberdumpsters, my employer just purchased one first weekend in June.
He had it for two weeks, then got sent in for a software update. It stayed in the shop a week due to the software update borking something related to battery charging. Then we had about 1/2" of intermittent drizzle over a few days. The drizzle shorted out the tonneau cover thingy, so back to the shop. It spent two weeks there. It was released for 12-18 hours and then went back. It is still in the shop since like 3rd week of July. He was loaned another cyberdumpster, which itself has tonneau cover issues, charging issues, and while I’m not sure what it’s doing NOW, the boss says “it’s too dangerous to drive to my kids school so I’m having to take an uber to get my daughter from school”. He won’t tell me what it’s doing because I make fun of him and his wife for getting rid of a car that was actually capable of self driving (a 2022-24 Kia carnival, that thing has some actual FSD chops via Geohot) and getting a dumpster instead. One day his wife told me she can ‘do so much truck stuff’ with it and I about crapped my pants laughing at that one. Since then they don’t talk about their truck when I’m around.
Incredible that people have elevated a guy to richest man in the world for “inventing” a car that breaks when it rains.
‘do so much truck stuff’ with it
lol like what? kill pedestrians?
film video rants while wearing oakleys in it about how wokeness is destroying society
He wears the oakleys with the fucking camera in it. He may as well be doing so, he might have actually done so. He does frequent social media and the only social media I use is this den of iniquity so I’m probably missing some peak rants.
That’s precisely why my employer wouldn’t drive his loaner to pick his daughter up, the pedal was malfunctioning, and sometimes barely goosing throttle more or less just put the pedal to the plastic. He specifically told me “I’m afraid I’ll kill a kid crossing in front of me”.
I didn’t respond, I just sorta looked at him a couple seconds, broke eye contact and then left the break room.

Comma.ai mentioned
Do you have one as well?
No, I just remember when Geohot first put it out into the wild, I think som content creators comparing it versus FSD, and other maker’s equivalents and while I wanna say it went ver better for the carnival versus others, but it still was pretty far off from leaving beta.
I specifically mentioned the Carnival’s FSD ability when they showed up in the dumpster when my boss mentioned the Cyberdumpsters superb FSD abilities. He seemed to be unaware really.
Comma can’t actually take you from point to point anymore/yet.
They had a poorly working version of that which they trashed because it was bad, and will bring it back eventually.
But the most recent comma hardware, which I have, is dashcam sized and not really designed for direct interaction (punching in an address for example).

At least three Cybertrucks have caught fire after crashes involving fire hydrants or other strikes beneath the truck. Tesla now sells owners a battery shield for $3,500. Call it shrinkflation, because when the same basic thing happened in 2013, Tesla offered owners additional battery armor for free while under investigation by the NHTSA.
…additional battery armor for free while under investigation by the NHTSA.
I think I found the reason why one was ‘free’ and the other is an ‘upgrade’, and it has nothing to do with inflation
i think it’s good that teslas don’t have door handles
You’re approved for a line of credit on the cyberdump but the ied plate for the battery is extra, unless you don’t mind frying to death.

Also,
that fire hydrants are the cause of fireSpontaneous combustion?
It’s not spontaneous when you drunkenly pile your pickup into a fire hydrant, so no.
Oh reading that I thought the Underbody Union was on strike…
