I think perhaps my opinion of him is tainted by his antics in the modern day, dresses like an absolute dickhead, plays maybe the least unconvincing “old tough guy” in landman. Come to find out this man was HUGE. MARRIED ANGELINA JOLIE. This emaciated conman ENSARED THE LOVELY AND TALENTED LAURA DERN. I am seeing him everywhere in the late 90s and he is so dogshit in everything I have seen him in so far. Absolutely the weakest comedic talent in Bad Santa (AS THE LEAD). Armageddon the same he’s in this awful medium ground he’s never smarmy enough to be smarmy he’s never dorky enough to be the bitch nerd. Is Simple Plan good? Did he manage to stumble into a decent performance for once in his storied career? I was looking forward to watching it but I worry this charismatic black hole will pull me completely out of it. Did you have to be there? What am I not getting?—

He did a bunch of minor stuff before he wrote, directed, and starred in Slingblade. I think that’s what got people to pay attention.

I dunno. He’s whatever. I don’t have an opinion about him.

Why in the pluperfect fuckass would you START with Bad Santa?! WHO TOLD YOU TO DO THIS?!

And Armegeddon? A Michael Bay movie? Please don’t judge BBT based on this movie. (His role was little more than a glorified cameo, to show off the “star-studded cast”, as was the norm in 90s blockbusters.)

Maybe take a look at Slingblade. Serious, powerful movie. Then watch Monster’s Ball. A Man Who Wasn’t There.

Those are his 3 best, IMHO. The rest of his filmography is hit or miss. Personally, I loved some of his fun, popcorn flicks like The Ice Harvest and Pushing Tin.

But, yeah, looking over his filmography, he really made some poor decisions at the top of his game. Took the paychecks and laughed all the way to the bank. Probably getting with Angie Jolie is what catapulted him into legendary status.

Ain’t no way pluperfect is used like that in a sentence i dunno how you use it I’m a simple rube but that cannot be it grammatically. Reconsider your use of it in general, it’ll reduce the amount of lockers you’re shoved into, but no chance it’s been used in sentence like that since the 1800s. but i kid It was christmas i was running through christmas movies i haven’t seen. Wasn’t seeking out the man he was foisted upon me not once but twice when i sat down to enjoy one of the 90’s most noted disaster films. No smoke but in armageddon, he’s absolutely main character. He’s not just a cameo he’s on the screen so much, he’s the liason between our oil boys and the pencil heads at nasa, and among this entire stacked and varied cast he’s uniquely eating shit. They’re all having stupid exagerated michael bay performance fun except him, he stands out. Could be him could be michael bay not knowing how to work with him. I will add slingblade to my list i feel like that’s the best chance of cracking this code. Only know it from the 30 rock joke, did not know he wrote and directed it, maybe he really is an artiste who sold out hard that’s an explanation.

As far as acting goes, I think directors don’t know how to use BBT effectively. You get some amazing standout performances across genres surrounded by a sea of shit.

As far as his music, sartorial choices, etc. yeah he’s a dickhead that I don’t care to hear from.
