Movies & TV@hexbear.net•Martin Scorsese no longer watches films in cinemas due to audience bad behaviourEnglish
3·1 year agoScorsese is totally lying out of his ass in that last bit lmao.
Nah, Scorsese has always been crazy about movies so it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s telling the truth here. This is the guy who imagined and storyboarded a Roman epic when he was 11 so him pointing out aspects in flims that he loved with his friends isn’t outside the realm of possibility.

Chapotraphouse@hexbear.net•Just listened to a conversation with amber where she basically makes excuses for Fascists for 40 minutesEnglish
40·2 years agoThere’s definitely a huge difference between her and the rest of Chapo. Like the other three have moved pretty far to the left since the show began that I’m surprised that they still associate with her and have her on as a guest sometimes.

3·2 years agoNot a fan of this video creator. If you watch enough of their stuff, you tend to notice a weird reactionary viewpoint to their ethos of film.

20·2 years agoWell, don’t go to any protests/events or don’t join any orgs then if you don’t want to end up on a list of some sort. lol
I mean the people involved in this like The ANSWER Coalition have been putting on large scale protests since the Iraq War, so this ain’t some amateur lib nonsense.

The Dredge Tank@hexbear.net•Jacobin writer being a cracker? No wayEnglish
15·2 years agoRepurposing something I wrote earlier:
Ben Burgis is a hack. He, along with Douglas Lain, used to be apart of Zero Books and made Youtube videos for that publishing house’s channel. They’re both Left Coms who complain about cancel culture and political correctness (Burgis was even on Rogan). They even made a few videos bashing Michael Parenti that appear to have been deleted from the Zero Books channel. [It looks like Lain reuploaded one of them onto his channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI57956Ln5M] Even one of Lain’s videos is an interview with Glenn Greenwald with a thumbnail that says “Flashback: Glenn Greenwald is not your enemy”, while Burgis actually released a book with the title, “Canceling Comedians While The World Burns”.

41·2 years agoBONUS:
“There are songs from the past that I no longer feel comfortable singing. I love ‘Run Like Hell’. I loved the music I created for it, but all that ‘You’d better run, run, run…’ I now find that all rather, I don’t know… a bit terrifying and violent.”
That’s the point of the song, Gilmour! You worked on the album! lol
The guitarist added: “‘Another Brick In The Wall’ is another one I shan’t be doing. I don’t think I’ve done that with my own band, but I certainly did it in the post-Roger Pink Floyd, against my better judgment. The same with ‘Money’. I won’t be doing that.”
He probably unironically believes the things Money is poking fun at. lol

11·2 years ago“I was in Nicaragua with the Sandinistas. I’ve argued for Leonard Peltier, Mumia Abu-Jamal, the United Farm Workers. I’ve been a radical for a long time. I guess it’s too bad. I’d be more marketable as a right-wing redneck. But I got into this to tell the truth as I saw it.”

podcasts@hexbear.net•latest chapo trap house (ep 865) is antisemite David Sirota plugging his new liberal podcast where he complains about the GOP plan to corrupt America's perfect democracy with moneyEnglish
3·2 years agoI have no idea why they had him on and it wasn’t a good idea, but I do think you’re being a little too harsh on Will and Felix. They’re very much anti-zionists and have had numerous activists on the pod to talk about Palestine. In fact, they still talk about it when most popular podcasts now talk about it less. I think Will in particular has moved further left since the show began especially post 2020 election.

videos@hexbear.net•Why Capitalism Loves Doomers — Second ThoughtEnglish
6·2 years agoWild that you’re comparing revolutionary optimism to self help books. I’ll have to let Fred Hampton, Mao Zedong and Ho Chi Minh know.
“The most immediate antidote to nihilism is revolutionary optimism. Revolutionary optimism isn’t rooted in a blind hope that change will come at some unknown point in the future. It is cultivated by the acknowledgement that only through participation in the struggle to liberate the people can the lives of the people be transformed. Revolutionary optimism is bolstered by a deep curiosity in and knowledge of the history of class struggle. Social change is treated as a science, one with distinct properties and elements that are both inevitable and profoundly dependent upon the actions taken by the people.”

Yeah, I’m kind of bummed we haven’t gotten a good BE takedown video yet from someone on the left. All we have are libs making bad points even though, based on a few examples here people have given so far, it would be an easy slam dunk. I mean, the guy bashed the cop city protests, it shouldn’t be that hard to make a video calling him out.
It also annoys me that great Youtubers like Spooky Scary Socialist and Yugopnik still associate themselves with him.
