It also points to a consolidated executive leveraging a huge amount of power over legislators to the point where it is a whip itself.
This is not universally a bad thing, but with the reactionaries holding the executive and also the legislature with a coherent program of what to do with this, it portends very bad things to come. If an incumbent representative feels that the president’s loyalists will primary them, and decides the seat is already lost, that says a lot.
