Well…if they have an ass I think they are more pants than chaps. Just a pretty risque design 🤷🏻 Certainly not pants I’d want to wear to a family gathering or anything.
Just always been a bit of a pet peeve of mine to call them assless, since chaps by definition don’t have an ass.
I couldn’t agree more, and I usually have the exact same thought you do. For whatever reason I took the statement literally, picturing only adding butt coverage to chaps.

Calling them ass-less means you’re also not wearing pants and your ass is in the breeze

I am grateful for all my fellow pedants who note the redundancy of “assless chaps.” There are no other kind! It’s bugged me ever since the movie Dodgeball introduced that term.
