The cop said, “You’re under arrest,” grabbed her arms, and pulled her out of the room. “I can do this all night. I get paid by the hour,” the cop added.

Using this against the person whose taxes pay his salary is especially telling. He doesn’t serve this community, he abuses it.

When your representatives don’t represent you, shift the focus to who they are representing. Get loud and don’t stop. Overflow the room for every public meeting of any kind. Dominate all public comment. These folks aren’t your neighbors, they are neighbors to the municipal consultants the city pays to draw the master plan. Clear cut your trees, zone for data centers, build surveillance infrastructure, close your public schools, install unnecessary roundabouts and raise your utility costs.

I’m with you on everything except roundabouts. For moderate traffic intersections, they are more efficient than stoplights and stop signs. Opposition to them seems largely confined to those who regard wide arcs and looking left for other traffic as unreasonable demands against their intellect.

Roundabouts are also better for the environment because they reduce fuel usage, and are better for people because they reduce accidents by a non insignificant amount! Not to mention less time stopped looking at brake lights. The only reason to stick with stop lamps is ignorance / space restraints, as I believe the main draw back to rotary intersections is they require a bit more real estate. But then u can put cute planters and shit in the middle so 🤷

Honestly, I like a roundabout and I can handle them just fine. However. Most of my fellow drivers cannot. There’s a couple near my house. When they were newly installed I was like, OK, people suck at using these things now, but they’re new. That was 15 years ago. People still suck just as much at using them.

If it requires special training and awareness, it’s not a good solution for American traffic patterns.

If it requires special training and awareness, it’s not a good solution for American traffic patterns.

I think the issue you’re pointing to is that some drivers aren’t good at driving, and that puts others at risk. If that’s the case, I agree; there are a lot of bad drivers on the road, but that’s a problem everywhere, not just in America. I’d say that overall American drivers are, excuse the pun, middle-of-the-road when it comes to safety. Addressing the claim that if something takes special training and awareness then it’s not a good solution: driving in itself requires special training and awareness. Every driver on the road is required to have taken a driving test and receive a state-issued license. But that doesn’t stop people from disregarding rules and breaking laws. Even great drivers will make mistakes, and sometimes those mistakes will have deadly consequences.

We cannot eliminate driver error without removing drivers, which will never happen in places with car-centric infrastructure and culture. What we can do is mitigate risks and reduce the severity of collisions when they inevitably occur. The data show that roundabouts are safer and more efficient than other forms of traffic control, and when collisions do happen, they happen at much lower speeds and oblique angles, which lowers the risk of injury and reduces cost of repairs.

The argument that roundabouts are bad because it means learning how to use them is an indictment against drivers, not roundabouts.

Honestly you could probably just nuke their funding and let them bleed out, while also raising up militia to fill the void with a blacklist for cops unless they take certain actions. Ideally the militia would have relatively high standards and would be largely disarmed or otherwise equipped with less than lethal gear for daily patrols.

I was moreso referring to day to day patrol once things stabilized on the old cops have been dealt with, probably should’ve been more specific but I was firmly in migraine land and still kinda am. No in the immediate the militia should be armed to the fucken teeth as needed, on the rural scale it’d just be a technical or two for dealing with anyone stupid on the more urbanized side it’d be full on hunting the old cops with APCs if they try anything.

Current police departments can’t be reformed. Can’t turn an orange into an apple. They’re rotten from top to bottom and within their very charter.

We’d need to replace the entire concept and everyone currently involved, with a new organization that is from the start intended to serve the people, and not the filthy rich.

“It’s gonna be hard” doesn’t begin to describe the task, because it can’t be done in a vacuum, it would need to be part of a complete overhaul of our entire government.

Empathy and authoritarianism are diametrically opposed. No authoritarian will ever side with the people it has authority to exploit. Not comprehending this dynamic, is how your vanguard will always betray you, will always side with the next “rich.”

The solution is horizontalidad. You and I empower each other. No vanguards.

Current police departments can’t be reformed

        No.

The department is a building that houses officers and equipment.

You could say the police forces can’t be reformed and we need to do a 100% staffing turnover, and that would be a valid opinion.

“It’s gonna be hard” doesn’t begin to describe the task, because it can’t be done in a vacuum, it would need to be part of a complete overhaul of our entire government.

        That’s also not true.

There’s less than 750k cops in America as of 2024.

We’d just have to redesign police academies, require oversight, and then start pumping trainees who pass stricter background checks and qualifications they, then using them to replace existing police.

It’s all very doable and wouldn’t take long.

This isn’t the time for learned helplessness bud, it’s literally the opposite of what we need right now.

If you don’t understand, ask a fucking question. Dont just spit out assumptions and opinions that only convince people it’s not gonna happen before we even try

A department is an organizational structure, not just a building.

And what the other person was saying is that corruption is already entrenched in their leadership hierarchies, in their institutional knowledge, in their academies and instructor schools.

Not an easy thing to fix just by reforming their hiring practices and training…

The only way these flock cameras are coming down legally is if people use the cameras against their local council.

Use the various means to get into the cameras or just set up shop outside their comes and note what time they go in and out of their home. Note their children’s clothes, what school they go to and their car license plate numbers.

Provide print outs and distribute them at the meeting. Be sure to have them for the news people outside.

Council members think they are special and aren’t going to be targeted by Flock. We need to show them that the laws that work for Flock work for us too.

That mayor DOES obviously have a tiny, stinky cock.

    From another article:

“I believe that the purpose of public hearings or when there’s actually something of substance, if there’s nothing of substance, it just becomes kind of theater,” Schrag stated

So dissenting opinions on needless surveillance is by definition “theater” and can’t POSSIBLY be of substance, according to this poorly endowed stinkphallus.

We’re there to do the people’s business.

By shutting the people up, says the possessor of an infinitesimal and pungent Johnson.

He said he understands that people have concerns, but has also heard from Springfield Police on the usefulness of the technology.

Big “you may like your civil liberties but they’re bothersome to the SS” energy from he of the malodorous micropenis.

Schrag explains that giving the committee 9 months allows them to look into the full scope of both sides.

Without in any way requiring them to respect the wishes of their constituency, Tiny Toxicpants neglected to add.

just throwing thing, after thing, after thing at staff is not an appropriate way to get results,

Said Schrag, whose own thing can be detected by odor three counties away, but isn’t visible with the naked eye at a distance of one foot.
