    Jim Cummings is still alive. Did they even ask him to reprise his role as DW??

    Not that I give a fuck about anything Disney shits out these days, but I was a huge Darkwing Duck fan as a kid and if they didn’t even consider asking Jim that’d piss me off!

    oh I see one of the idiots behind the trashy embarassment that was Star Trek: Picard is behind this. Yea I’m not gonna give this reboot the time of day.

      They did initially and then… idk, decided not to? No idea about why.

      “I did a pilot for it several years ago, to see the viability of it coming back, and everybody went nuts. And they are bringing it back, and they’re hiring somebody else to do Terry McGovern’s role of Launchpad, and they’re hiring somebody else to be Darkwing Duck,” Cummings told Collider at the premiere of “Coyote vs. Acme.” “I hope they get … everything they deserve. Crazy, I don’t know what to tell you.”

      Apparently he was on board as recently as this March, and had even recorded a pilot, but he gave an interview in August that revealed that he was no longer attached to the project and the role would be recast. No real details though.

      From what I can see it looks like the overall shape of the series has changed pretty dramatically in that time as well. It was originally going to be about an older Drake picking up the mantle again after a period of retirement, ala The Dark Knight Returns. Now it seems to be something about the character being transported to an alternate dimension where nobody’s ever heard of Darkwing Duck. (Which, wasn’t that a subplot in the DuckTales reboot?)

        The recent DuckTales series had it where Darkwing Duck was an older in-universe TV show that Launchpad loves. During the development of a movie reboot of the show, a young actor comes to replace the original in-universe TV Darkwing, who turns heel. This causes the new guy to become Darkwing Duck in the “real life” of the DuckTales universe, at Launchpad’s behest. Then the OG Darkwing dons a yellow and red costume, thus becoming Negaduck. A later episode has some dude use a machine that pulls the fictional villains from the TV show into the DuckTales universe, thus giving the new Darkwing his rogues gallery. (My kids got us to watch the new DuckTales and it’s actually pretty great as a parents-watching-with-kids show since it draws a TON from the Disney animation block from back in the day, especially in later seasons).

        I was always under the impression that Disney was preparing for a spin-off Darkwing Duck from the new DuckTales. Guess they’ve decided to do something entirely different. Which, to be honest, is a little sad to me because of how great the new DuckTales turned out to be.

    I need to find the originals in decent quality. All the ones I found were like 360p at best.
