Requirements: Vegan (obviously) Greasy as shit, nutritional benefits optional Tasty/savory Fairly simple to prepare
Something to fill the kind of craving as shawarma cheese fries or the like. I feel like various forms of deep fried potatoes are a good base/starting point
can’t go wrong with fried potatoes
Comrade, you are about to be delighted: https://theeburgerdude.com/
This dude does all vegan fast food and slop. As well as some actually good food ;)
His seasonings for tvp are amazing
Holy shit this won’t be good for me health thanks for sharing
Thanks for that! Bookmarking and specifically looking forward to the vegan chicken pot pie.
refried beans with tortilla chips
guacamole with tortilla chips
hummus with pita bread or pita chips (or tortilla chips, tbh could prob also work with potato chips)
if you use premade crust/sauce/“cheese”, vegan pizza
Fried zucchini sticks, dip in marinara sauce
ooh, pickle chips
C/food
Seafood isn’t vegan
We got ourselves a funny guy, one could even say a fungi
Unironically actually portobello mushroom burger perfectly fits OP request.
Oh I love stacking a grilled portobello onto a vegan patty.
Oh hell yeah, the portobello itself makes a good substitute but both is fire
Vietnamese crepes - Fried rice flour batter filled with anything in your fridge or pantry.
Vegan kebabs, portobello mushroom burger, almost anything with TVP are all really good options. Also fried battered artichoke hearts are disgustingly good.
Can you make fried rice vegan? When I used to drink I’d eat rice as it was easy and filling.
fried rice can be made without egg so yes, also while I haven’t tried it I bet aquafaba if preped right could make for a perfect egg substitute in fried rice
Not really one to one with egg but crumbled seasoned and fried medium firmness tofu is really good for that.
Especially if you have black salt.
fried rice is great even without egg or egg substitute. the korean restaurant i worked at never used egg. just sesame oil, onion, bell peppers, s&p. damn i miss that spot.
Sometimes I make a tofu and pepper fried rice. Very tasty, very filling
Can’t believe anyone hasn’t said onion rings yet. I make a sauce on the side with raw tomato and fresh chili + bell pepper, just grinding them all into a puree together with vinegar and salt, fresh and spicy to contrast the greasy rings
Wouldn’t be terribly hard to make shawarma fries with vegan ingredients, like I’d get some veggie chicken or mushrooms and then add your spices. I dunno how handy you are in the kitchen but microwaving potatoes before you fry them shaves a lot of cook time off. Sometimes if I’m feeling lazy I microwave the potatoes then put them in a frying pan and mash them flat with a spatula. Chow mein or some kind of ramen are usually pretty easy to whip up if you know what you’re doing.
I think you’re right, and I could get vegan shawarma fries down with some experimentation
I bet beer cheese and pretzels would be extremely easy to make vegan. The pretzels are already there; Just a matter of making beer cheese vegan, which shouldn’t be difficult.
I’ve got an air fryer and make fries/chips a lit more than I should. Zaatar spiced thick potato chips with hummus rocks. Falafel is a big one for me as well. Burritos too.
Just got a bag of zaatar
Its a peak spice
Depresso Mac and Cheese
Dump pasta into boiling water. While that’s cooking get your cream analogue of choice and pour it in a 2nd pot. Throw vegan cheese in there and let it melt together and season for your taste. I like nutmeg, salt, and maybe a little paprika. I guess edible yeast flakes could also be good.
Vegan poutine gets you there. Carbs, oil, gravy, cheese-alike of your choice
A good chili is hard to beat even if it’s not that greasy.
I also keep some frozen mini samosa and mini spring rolls stocked.
Cutting firm tofu into sticks and pan frying it until it’s crispy with some sweet chili sauce is great too.
Garlic bread
Yess chili is a good choice
