and I’m kind of mad about it because otherwise this would be top tier slop for me to just fucking slurp up and love. There’s cool character designs and the fight scenes are kind of cool (except for some badly animated parts) and I am so into wanting the MC to show me his stupid character build that’s OP and just shits on everyone. I’m 1000% there for that
but it’s like, just fucking constant flashbacks to shit that happened a minute ago. LONG. I’m telling you, FUCKING LONG. panoramic landscape views of the shitty fucking CGI pottery kingdom shithole they’re in. It looks atrocious and it eats up minutes. The google lying machine is telling me this isn’t just some amateur director’s first rodeo, no, these shitty terrible choices are the hallmark of Studio GoHands chief director. This is something this guy does all the time.
like, two weeks ago, there was an episode where the MC needs money. He needs it for his OP skill book for his dumb fucking OP build. He sits down and overhears what is immediately perceptible within 30 seconds to be a conversation about a girl with skills to increase drop rates getting kicked from her ungrateful party because They Don’t Get It
this scene took the rest of the episode, which was only half over, literally 12 minutes, just to have a pointless back and forth dialogue that added literally nothing
god actually just go watch that scene and see how this clown girl is introduced, they go for this cute magical girl vibe and it just fucking sucks. It’s like ChatGPT wrote, directed, and animated it, but no, a living human being made these decisions
I’m posting this because I googled the manga expecting it to be a situation where there’s like 2 volumes of a light novel or 50 chapters or something so they “have to” make the anime REALLY SHITTY in order to not , uh, I don’t know, ruin it by catching up or something
but no there’s 175 fucking chapters of this shit and that’s just the manga and that implies even more of the original LN to use as source material
so they’re just doing all this dogshit cheap fucked up bullshit drawing this shit out where literally 2 manga chapters are an episode for no real reason lol
Studio GoHands, the ones famous for CGI camera movements that physically hurt to watch?
that’s what the google llm said i’m glad to see it wasn’t just made up bullshit
okay i’m watching this now and the guy comes off as kind of a gooner but ngl I kinda wanna watch mardok scramble
He is literally a professional anime watcher. But at least he can, like, recognize that One Piece is political.
this asshole also talked shit about the isekai trope the show is while praising the dogshit studio for “giving spice” to it so yeah fuck this guy
edit: and I said that seconds before he literally said, as a positive, “theremovedwho STOLE HIS LIFE is ONE OF THE HOTTEST WOMEN I HAVE EVER SEEN”
edit: seconds before he says, as a positive, “THE MAIN WAIFU IS A CLOWN GIRL” without any focus whatsoever on the dogshit fucked to death shit animation accompanying her introduction, despite this fucked to death loser supposedly being an animation aficionado posting this video slop because his opinions on animation matter
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Anime with those types of titles tend to be bad
It’s always shit like “Leveling up my catgirls to fight the demon lord! Is it okay to fall in love with a slave?”
It’s like the took all the wrong lessons from .hack, instead of being a mystery anime with scenes of character drama set to the backdrop of an mmorpg, the shows become about being the strongest in the game and having a harem. What makes hack work is it feels like everyday Japanese people playing an actual game.
Anime with those types of titles tend to be bad
no but they’re usually bad in a way that I like
this is bad isekai (no slave nonsense trope yet iirc tho) that I would love but the pacing is so tremendously bad that it could win an award for worst pacing
I hope someone out there recognizes that I COULD be Getting Mad at a professional level on youtube or twitch with these takes but instead I post them for free, here, for my COMRADES to BENEFIT FROM
I’ve never understood the appeal of this kind of “what if fantasy world, but bideo bame?” type of anime and why it is so damn popular and prevalent. Like, just play a video game, or watch something good. I’ve never seen one of these “fantasy world but with video game mechanics” shows done well, it’s always just blatant power fantasy with no attempt to actually worldbuild around a setting where people have measurable video game style stats and can improve them through grinding or whatever.
There are three obvious reasons: one of the main popularizer of western fantasy in Japan was video games
The target demo is so completely disconnected from the world (or just hate it) that you are more legible and connected to how they prefer to view things to render it as a video game
It’s so fucking easy to write “Number go up” and people have been doing it since dbz. This is just an extension of that in many ways.
Having only ever seen one anime of this type without realising until today that it’s a whole genre of its own, I’d argue Log Horizon was done pretty well based on what you’re saying.
It’s literally about worldbuilding in an MMO world where nobody can leave. So there’s just kind of a “Uh… things need to change if I’m gonna live my whole life in this game” material requirement to make relationships and guilds and socialise and basically build a society from the ground up. While to a meaningful degree incorporating game mechanics. I don’t recall there being any silly amounts of power fantasy to it, though it has been some years.
I’m pretending that is the whole anime title including the firing the director from a canon part.
