I am 110% in the same position. Conflict-avoidance is my first, middle, and last name and I can’t even come close to overcoming it. It’s actually so causing such increasingly real problems in my life that I’m thinking I need to find therapy solely to teach me how to feel able to speak what I’m thinking.
I would kill to get 1% better at expressing myself honestly. If you find success in these or any other methods, please do feel invited to share with me at least.
The mentally insane? Sure. But Trump should really be worried that I’m scheming to bring the Physically Insane back in, too.
12 judges, all English, white, rich, and over 60. 10 are men. 11 of whom come from Cambridge or Oxford.
These guys are totally representing the will of the working class. Definitely fair they get to overrule the elected government of Scotland too.
advancing collaboration in lunar and deep space exploration, including jointly promoting the construction of the international lunar research station
This sounds cool. That is all.
Is it that we live in a dehumanising system that breaks people and lets children in unfortunate circumstances only have more unfortunater circumstances and leading them to embrace extremist violence because their shitty lives with little to no assistance isn’t magically getting better in a society that doesn’t give two shits and a multitude of similar factors including radical atomisation leads people to lose their mind and sense of proportionality or rationality?
No, it’s because we don’t punish the children enough.
Proving once and for all that Russia is the real centrist. Or something.
Calling imperialistic militaries ‘defense’ is one of the weirdest-ly successful and ubiquitous propaganda shit. Then you get to call it a ‘defense threat’ as sif someone is about to or has any interest in invading the US. It’s the one thing to be pretty much literally
The US’ inability to replace rare earth supply poses a threat to the US’ ability to do overseas killing. Which is a great thing.
GOOD post, I am intrigued by this question now also.
I can’t say it’s certainly common, but I personally, and at least a couple friends, have changed my mind on things by seeing debates.
Western country: “Very necessary and smart moves to restrict foreign agencies and malicious Chinese interference”
China: “Communist Dictator Xi Jinping Hates All Religion In Brutal Crackdown - But at what cost?”
We live in a world of fucking poison. Profit-driven industrialisation has turned the world into a hell for life.
They gave the dryad big booba, finally the game is playable
I’d love to agree, but without some means to sway what libs think, building a popular class movement is nigh on impossible. I’m not saying any one of us is going to be an orator so good it turns the US communist overnight, or that us chatting amongst ourselves will magically create the next super communism idea, but confronting lib ideas and conversations around it is kind of an essential part of eventually achieving positive change.
I dunno but I now want to use it to be as meaningless a term as ‘tankie’. In my eyes, a ‘wankie’ is now anyone who disagrees with 110% ultra-Stalinist communism where all citizens must wear a ushanka at all times.
Watch out for the Wankie triad btw, Lemmyworld, Midwest and shitjustworks. Bloody Wankie echo chambers I tell you
Nice to see Lenin doing dunk videos and calling this guy out.
China is… an interesting case. They’ve certainly done a lot of damage, but I also can’t name a major country that hasn’t. I don’t think China is any worse than America, just different issues. It’s probably better than America specifically right now.
I appreciate the willingness to realise the latter, but I don’t know what you mean by ‘done a lot of damage’. There are very few, if any examples where China isn’t a ‘better’ country than America:
In terms of domestically improving lives…
That’s 850 million people lifted out of poverty in a few decades. Even China’s “relative” poverty level is now equal to or better than the US’.
China is below the world average for incarceration rates. I assume you know the USA is still one of the highest.
China is a long way from perfect, no doubt, and not everything it does is golden. And apologies - not trying to infodump at you, but maybe I’ve communicated why we might argue it is actually miles ahead of America.
I’ve not looked at Stellaris memes, but honest to god the amount of micromanaging that comes with not genociding xenos, not refusing refugees and/or selecting xeno compatibility is ungodly.
I do those things solely so I don’t have to spend 50% of my game time (and 50% of my research time) on the population screen slowly re-modifying all the trillions of species that arrived, cross-bred, and created 10 new species that haven’t used all their gene points every damn month. Then I have to wait for the project to be ready. Then I have to manually go to the projects screen and start it. FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL SPECIES.
The second Paradox actually introduce a mechanic that automates gene therapising without eating all my research, I will be overjoyed to finally play a large, diverse species playthrough.

My guy is a climate change-denying, embezzling, unofficial sex offender who actively furthers Palestinian genocide. Why am I being left to squint at two blurry photos for some vague criticism of his latest haircut?
Criticising monsters for being slightly imperfectly groomed is weird, at best.
