As a lifelong kitchen worker I truly don’t understand how anyone who works in the service industry can be anything less than the farthest to the left you can be.

Dude, my son-in-law is a huge right wing idiot, and he’s a kitchen worker. It happens. I have no idea how. But yeah.

I can’t find any references to it now when i went googling, but in my first job at McDonalds they automatically enrolled us in the McUnion, which meant that we didnt need to bother with joining a real union.

16 year old me didn’t see too much of a problem with this. Randomly thought about it recently like what the fuck was that how did they think that would work and then how the fuck did we let that work.

Many companies have avoided the whole union issue with profit-sharing, which is actually a nice benefit but also something the company can take away if the employees unionize. But “McUnion” - srsly? Did they have McBenefits lol?

Sorry, what? I think it’s pretty normal to wear a suit and tie. How would You wear one ironically? A punk rock concert? Funeral of your worst enemy?

Those are solid ironic examples. It’s normal, sadly, yeah. Like wearing non-zero drop, narrow toebox shoes, especially high heels. Or polyester. Or branded clothing. Or flipflops. Normal but dismal.

They’re a hazard and should be only worn — in their safety form — by asian workers in heavy industry.

Wear sandals. Crocs are made out of crushed dreams and lullabies.

I fix soda/pop equipment, I love what I do. I’m slowly going insane though, we’ve been trying to find a second tech for 2 years now but people just don’t work out, it’s a sticky dirty job but it’s fuckin fun and you get to goto cool places and see cool shit like strippers.

People struggle with the lack of structure, we have like 10 calls a week at most and half the time they are bunched up so you may have 3 shop days where your just fuckin around fixing shit. Jobs ment for someone who enjoys soda and learning how shit works.

I develop software for the largest underground iron mine in the world. It’s always fun to say “I’m a software engineer, I work with mining” because most people’s reaction is “oh god, not crypto right?”

It’s not crypto, but we’re still destroying the environment!

In my free time I homosexually walk my dog, I enjoy gay cooking, I homo read books, I same-sex play games with friends, and queer do a whole bunch of other things.

    <Joke 'splanation>

I’m joking on the idea of homosexual marriage, because it’s fun to extrapolate it into us gay-verb everything.

Righties can’t separate the human from material value. OP in the screenshot was absolutely gearing up to judge people based on their job, which is a good red flag to avoid someone at all costs.

Unless they’re a cop. You can judge them all you want.

If I came from a wealthier family and went to private schools and all that I’d probably be an editor for Vogue and be a psychopath like Patrick Bateman. They just self-own when they ask a stupid question like this because they have no self-awareness or intelligence. I’ve never met anyone IRL who made more than 100k a year that wasn’t an asshole. They don’t kill people but they wouldn’t put up a protest if it happened and they see the rest of us as vermin.

The trump administration has kinda ruined the Aerospace field for a while. I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Ontop of that, the push to commercialize space has kind of made doing it a lot less satisfying.

Can I join in on this dream? Aerospace really tickles my fancy, but it feels impossible to get a job in it that’s not destroying the environment and/or making bigger bombs.

So you want to work in Becky Chambers’ To Be Taught, If Fortunate.
I couldn’t have come up with a better pitch for the book.
