Got a message that someone somehow logged onto my facebook in Cincinatti last night. Seemingly the only thing that has happened is that they listed a car for a good price
Bro even listed his real email. I don’t understand what the purpose of this scam is, I’ve just taken down the listing after one message.

I had my cc stolen and they used it to pay for college tuition in their own name. Seemed like a bad idea, but what do I know, maybe this is a higher-level grift I’m not capable of understanding.

I had someone who figured out my WoW password just use my max level rogue for pvp for quite some time. When I logged in, I found her dressed in pvp gear I never bought and with maxed herbalism. All my money and my stuff was untouched. The guild bank was untouched. No idea who did it or why.

Probably something like that, I got an inbox from a FB account last year whose name I vaguely remember. Clicked through to see who this was, and I suddenly remembered it was a dumbass fake name my friend made in 2011 because he didn’t want his real name to be searchable, but still wanted to be on Facebook. He stopped using the email associated with it after he started applying for jobs and “sexbomb” + a string of numbers @hotmail was apparently detrimental to getting hired at EB Games or most other places, really. After a while, he forgot the password to both the hotmail and the Facebook account, so when his laptop that the FB account was logged in on died, he just made a new one.
Fast forward to 2025, someone somehow got access to an inactive Facebook account and started messaging people about wanting to sell their TV. What a weird grind. Oh well.

It’s like the scam calls that when you pick up there’s just no one on the line and then they hang up. I know that’s so they can put you on a list to call in the future but it’s like damn homie at least shoot your shot
I think the scam is they ask for some kind of down payment for it and then bounce. Then your account gets shut down for fraud.
It seems like literally half of all social media at present is just scams trying to get deposits sent for sex/drugs/whatever and I am just increasingly staggered by the absolutely tremendous scale of it all

Kinda curious how that whole industry will go when boomers died off. Yeah there’s a sucker born every minute but boomers have to be where the money’s at. Plus they’re pretty bad with tech compared to other generations (and general tech literacy is very low to begin with).
I’m curious how that industry is going now, like, it’s really hard to imagine enough people falling for that shit often enough to justify all the activity trying to make it happen

A 2014 Honda Accord probably isn’t worth 11k. That’s my biggest complaint… Unless of course the Honda Accord belongs to Cincinnati royalty Griffenauld Creamworthy. Then it’s basically priceless as a piece of history.
