has anybody else watched any of DTF St. Louis yet? its an HBO series that just started two sundays ago. i watched the first two eps last night. i am ashamed at how fast it hooked me lol, with its suburban awkward longing for connection. bateman, as ever, is a national treasure. ::: spoiler ep2? whatever the fuck those learn to be a business sociopath self-help tapes Linda Cardellini’s character was listening to has been stuck in my head all morning. the bit about asking people to speak up in a conversation throwing them off and that “every conversation is a negotiation” or whatever. evil shit. when they showed her jogging as we hear what the tapes are saying i completely 180’d on my initial read of her. prior i thought was just a checked out and romantically bored corporate suburban wife with a dorky but earnest husband. that little tape excerpt made me instantly terrified of her as a true villain. i was like “wtf are these instructions?” and then i was like “what kind of demon seeks this shit out :::?” what a show. also, i bet it wins awards. bateman joked in an interview that his acting awards come from him learning how to stammer convincingly. this is gonna be some BAFTA tier shit before its over lol. i really like that its unfolding in a surprising way and keeping me from being certain of my latest predictions.
