I was losing my mind watching this. This “journalist” is such a miserable, deceptive piece of shit and generally the Iranian Foreign Minister did a pretty good job of trying to correct him (aside from the part about the Strait of Hormuz, where I think he was lying but I’m not going to fault him for it because his country is at war and the interviewer already demonstrated his unwillingness to let him speak).
It was so funny how there was the cope talk with the correspondent afterward, so they could repeat the “attacking neighbors” lie yet again but without anyone there to contradict it this time, and the correspondent says “many diplomats have said so” without specifying who.
It’s sorta funny in a fucked up way that in this age of communications we can be blasting the fuck out of a country in an act of pure imperial aggression, and then call up representatives of said country to tell them off like they’ve been brought to the headmaster’s office or some shit.
Imagine some Nazi newsanchor hitting up Molotov via telegraph like “DU IST ÜNTERMENSCHEN. STOP. DIE ÜBERSOLDATEN OF ZE ÖSTFRONT VILL MARCH ON MOSCOW BY VINTER. STOP.” whilst on radio broadcast.
