Libs very clearly don’t care that Ukraine is run by fascists. They don’t need to even bother pretending because the media in the west simply looks the other way.

I think you’re making the mistake of confusing what liberals say they care about with what they actually care about. The only thing that matters to them is preserving western hegemony over the world, and they only care about social issues as far as they affect them personally.

Yeah, I agree with all that. All I’m saying is that Ukraine is a perfect illustration how selectively libs apply their values. It’s an openly fascist state, they don’t try to hide it, and they don’t even see the need to do it. Yet, western libs conveniently look the other way because they don’t care one bit whether they stand with literal fascists, they see Russia as a threat to their ambitions, and Ukraine is just a tool to be used and discarded.

I think the focus has to be on educating people who are becoming disillusioned and falling out of liberal mainstream. As the material conditions in the west continue to decline, people are losing faith in the system, and they become open to new ideas. Unfortunately, as things stand, the right is doing a far better job recruiting than the left. For me, that’s the most worrying trend right now.

The Nazis are the army. If they reformed them out of it, the entire thing ceases to exist. They need the Nazis because they are the enforcers of the regime, they are the internal police keeping dissent in check, they are the only ones motivated to keep the war going at all costs and the only ones keeping the rest of the mobilized cannon fodder in line. They are the linchpin of the whole Maidan project.

please note that the source here (telegraaf) is a nazi newspaper that was banned after ww2 (sadly temporarily) so its extra surprising that they report this, maybe its nothing but maybe this could be significant, could it be that even european nazi’s are giving up on ukraine? or maybe they still think they can get russia as an ally in the coming war with china or something?

I don’t get it. Yes this planet has some messed up people on it, including even wannabe Nazis. But don’t they know better than to out themselves with that stupid salute? Couldn’t they blend in more without it? Sheesh.

“Sierra Hotel” is an oft heard greeting in the bundeswehr. It’s nato alphabet, SH = “Sieg Heil”.

It’s to affirm group membership. Outing yourself as part of a group makes it harder to break with it. Be it communist, christian, nazi or whatever.

One of the top government contractors, Elon Musk, has done the nazi salute in front of the whole world and nothing happened. Why would a bunch of cousin-fucking ukronazis have more decorum than him?

They are already a Banderite government that openly celebrates people who perpetrated part of the Holocaust. It’s a core part of their identity and by this point they are well aware that western press will simply ignore it because reporting on it would be “spreading Russian disinformation”.

That’s the whole thing with Ukraine being a fascist state, they’re not trying to hide it.

But don’t they know better than to out themselves with that stupid salute?

The scary part is that they do, it’s just that times have changed and they know it’s more accepted nowadays so they can be open about it in more contexts than before.

De Telegraaf is considered to be the least reliable source of information from all major news outlets in the Netherlands. (https://www.bnnvara.nl/joop/artikelen/nos-en-nrc-zijn-betrouwbaar-geenstijl-en-telegraaf-niet). This is my experience with them as well. Without getting into the content of what is said here, I think it is a good idea to base your opinion on information from other, more reliable sources than this one.

  • To learn about and discuss meaningful news, analysis and perspectives from around the world, with a focus on news outside the Anglosphere and beyond what is normally seen in corporate media (e.g. anti-imperialist, anti-Zionist, Marxist, Indigenous, LGBTQ, people of colour).

  • To encourage community members to contribute commentary and for others to thoughtfully engage with this material.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don’t post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
