The ghost of the Soviet Union is laughing its ass off. Whether in mirth or agony, unclear, but it can certainly be heard quite loudly.

  • I want to hear more about China from people who live and breather there. Especially the proletarian in China. I wanna see their perspective.

As for my personal opinion, it’s a mixed bag, they do some things very good like how they actually managed to lift people out of poverty and transform their cities in such a short span of time and other things make me worried, like the amount of liberalism and social conservatism that’s allowed to exist within the country. There seems to be no interest stopping that either, not anytime soon.

But tbh idk I also think I’m wasting my time over here sometimes. People seem to either want to praise China mostly or they’re harsh critiques. Presenting a more human picture seems to be unfavorable or maybe it’s just my imagination? Or maybe it’s the fact that this is just a place for shitposting and it was my mistake believing anyone here actually desires to make a positive impact on the world.

  • In the early stages of USSR a lot Americans who shared an interest in building Communism wanted to move there, however they were discouraged, their task was to build their own movements at home.

Sometimes I’m unable to tell if the news people share about supposedly positive developments abroad is because they see something aspirational in them or is it because they think that China will become a Communist “Utopia” that will start liberating everything else. Because if it’s the latter there won’t be anyone left to liberate.

  • Why do I real comments on these videos.

“Democratic socialism, whilst not perfect is far better than all pure greed based capitalism.”

“Every EU country is living proof of that. But apparently, American conservatives don’t like cold, hard statistical evidence”

“Because Europe is not the model the US looks up to. It’s Russia and China.”

“We’re more familiar with the term “social democracy” in the Nordic countries.”

“but so then. Don’t elect people like Reagan or Trump and there won’t be a problem”

“Okay. But we need to distinguish between socialism & social democracies, which is what most European countries are. I support the latter, not the former.”

  • I think asking yourself why do you indulge in media that portrays an opposing worldview is a much more interesting question, than asking what media one should consume.

Does it mean we should all become free speech absolutists and allow Austrian painters book to be places in our bookshelves?

No, but I would argue something is deeply wrong with our society, if reading that book converts someone to a nazi. Same as that there is something deeply wrong with out society if playing 40k does that to someone. If banning this media means we can eventually create a society where this doesn’t happen then sure I’m not opposed to it, by itself it doesn’t seem to work if I take a look at what’s happening in Europe right now.

Like take for instance why I found the 40k setting peculiar myself. It’s a world filled with perpetual misery, caused by all the worst human qualities. Arrogance, greed, ignorance, haltered, zealotry and you can go on. Something about it tickles my funny bone, why would that make me wanna subscribe to a losers ideology? My own world is filled with perpetual misery, caused by it’s own god emperors and people worshipping them. That’s where I find it relatable.

  • Can you imagine how annoying this is when your boss starts using AI and thinks they’ve mastered it already. “We don’t need to go through the process! Look this thing makes way more polished designs much faster than you silly! Just edit these a bit to make them look good and we’re good :D”

And the thing is it’s been happening even before AI, where choices are based on whatever gets the most clicks or the most watch time. AI just makes it much much faster. But people will get tired of the same old design, unfortunately we might end up in a world where, with no one left, who knows what made art beautiful in the first place.

  • A person needs to stop thinking like a liberal. There’s no such a thing as a trustworthy source, only consistently truthful and verifiable source. It’s basic science, it requires collaboration. You need to accept that you can be proven wrong at any time, that nothing is absolute.

But we don’t do that, we make a news channel for Opinion A and news channel for opinion B and have them fight each other.

If the only thing that matters is changing an aspect of what they believe in, then yeah, find Gospels that agree with the worldview you’re trying to push. But be prepared that they might find even more of them that disagree with your world view.

  • The same story is being told by nationalists in other European countries. They’re using the same looking symbols that I’d describe as resembling runes, calling each other brothers from a fatherland.

They say it’s diverse, but the context isn’t just the same within the countries, it’s the same across every country trying to reclaim these symbols. I really do not like how thick the air has become.
