Almost everyone i know is working this week and work itself is treating this as an inconvenience to productivity which is such an odd shift as businesses used to just close or soft close this time of year. I dont even care about Christmas itself but i liked it being a slow period but its not anymore. Anyone else noticing this shift? I suppose this has always been the case for retail workers there’s no such thing as a holiday for them. The only difference is white collar slimeballs see working more as badge of honour like the little asswipes they are

  • ugh, the martyring move by white collar bozos to be in the office/productive around xmas is so pathetic. imagine volunteering to demonstrate snivelry.

my own work only gives us xmas off, but everybody can take their vacation time because nobody needs to be here so it becomes this kinda dead week where maybe 10-20% of workers are around. some like working a few days because it’s slow/quiet and they can knock out a few things without distraction, but i suspect most of the rest who come in have fucked up home lives and work is time away from it. theres a dude near me who has come in today even though he’s sick! wtf, you terrorist. go home.

personally, im gonna do a few chill days keeping my shit moving smoothly, but strategically use a few vacation days to get a lush 5day weekend of movies, waffles and fried trash, as CHRIST intended.

You have to be able to disconnect from the world affairs to celebrate holidays, it’s a luxury few can afford as time goes by.

This year I’m also seeing quite a bit of Halloween decorations still being sold which is unusual, they’re really trying to push consumption huh and it’s a shame really, we need community spirit more than ever, yet everyone seems so disconnected.

My wife says that despite having 2 weeks off for the holidays she’s struggling to feel the joy and excitement with the looming economic collapse and global war. We’re in a really sad and depressing era of western culture.

Pretty much same although i only got 1 week off and all thats in my head is a high likelihood of financial ruin or the fact that im gonna get hounded by the office cops for my incomplete q4 deliveries in the slop grinding mill where everyone acts like its totally normal to just be non stop grinding ourselves to death over fake deadlines. Lying in bed just utterly spent it really just all feels a bit hopeless especially when i have colleagues sitting around gloating about how many hours they pull to show off to the office police. Dreading going back. Dreading everything at the moment tbh

Chuds somehow blame this all on us, a minority of a political movement that was demonstrably defeated in the Cold War. The specter haunts liberalism with every passing day socialism-spectre

same here everyone is being worked right up until Christmas so instead of a slow week where everyone is easing into the holiday spirit everyone is instead being squeezed out of every last drop before employers are legally required to let them off for the weekend

the mildly silver lining to this though is that im noticing a bunch of my liberal “apolitical” friends slowly start to realize theyre wage slaves

one of my friends who works for one of the biggest companies in the world got a chocolate as a christmas gift from the company dean-frown

which means off of my vibes based analysis that consciousness is going up and space for me to introduce Lenin to these people is expanding

Same one of my friends who always bragged about working 12 hour days saying its necessary to get work done is realising hes burning his life away for nothing and is finally tired of it

Let’s see, from my own life… well, my Christian chud mom claims she doesn’t want to host or even celebrate Christmas this year because it’s too focused on consumption, and also it’s too pagan for her lmao.

    i-love-not-thinking astronaut-1

I mean I learned about Christmas’s pagan origins just by watching youtube casually 15 years ago but ok mom. Guess she’s not ready to admit shit sucks yet. So as a result my family isn’t doing Christmas together this year. I got small gifts for my relative’s kids, my lonely grandma and my partner and that’s it. As for my partner and I, we both got really burned out from work this year and just managed to recover around halloween. However, we both still have to work this week and I don’t get any paid time off. To make matters worse, they recently cut most of our OT pay opportunities, so I need to take the 5 extra they’re offering this week. That means I might be working Christmas or Christmas weekend. Thankfully it’s all WFH this week so I doubt anyone clocking in is turning in much work.

TLDR I’m mostly gaming this week. gamer-gulag

My job decided that a problem that’s been kind of annoying all year (and was discovered last year), but was never a priority, is the top priority right at the beginning of December. Every step we make isn’t good enough.

Too bad for them I already had my PTO approved.

Literally grinding myself to death just to pay the bills

Same, and I’ve been out of work for the longest time. Christmas has been nothing but a guilt-trip for me for the past God knows how long.

I just want Christmas to be like it was for once, not this humiliation ritual.

The vibe has been really weird around here. I’ve been out shopping for incidentals and expected to have to deal with the usual consumer spending orgy but it kinda just … hasn’t happened. Maybe a little bit busier than normal, but nothing excessive. Even the decorations in the shopping centres are kinda half-assed this year, and I don’t think I’ve heard Mariah Carey even once.

Shops were pretty busy yesterday but i dont remember hearing any Christmas music at all. This place would always blast Mariah Carey. Christmas is truly over the woke mob didn’t kill it, it killed itself
