Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) wants to enforce a 10-year moratorium on AI regulation by making states ineligible for broadband funding if they try to impose any limits on development of artificial intelligence.

      Yeah, with all the bureaucratic loops to jump through, it’s basically impossible for states to get access to this money. It’s like a Rube Goldberg machine that keeps breaking every step of the way.

      Jon Stewart probed the absurdity of the issue really well in an interview with Ezra Klein a couple months ago.

      [it’s a] 14-step process states have to go through to even start building the rural broadband networks that were promised $42 billion in funding by the Biden administration (3 out of 56 states and territories are almost ready to start about four years later).
