What makes you think they wouldn’t?
Go look up clips of Charles Manson and tell me whether you think he could do a baby voice.
Lots of other psychopaths and sociopaths are good at being manipulative, and talking in a baby voice is a very easily learned behavior to appear normal.
It’s specific enough, that there probably hasn’t been,
Consider why neurotypical people do it. One theory, that’s around, is that it’s because babies can hear higher registers better. If so, a psychopath might still have the same instinct, because that doesn’t seem directly related to guilt or empathy. They also would be exposed to people around them doing it.
On the other hand, they’re never going to pity an animal, which might be the entry point to caring about them as if they were offspring.
I always talk to conservatives in dog-voice. It calms them down. Also, they love it when you pop a cube of tainted horse meat into their mouths.
Only when the horse meat is covered in ivermectin
Why would you think being a psychopath might influence the voice used to talk to small animals?
Because I used to get an uneasy feeling around some people that turned out to have some psychopatic tendencies and them not doing the baby voice when talking to a dog was something they had in common. Not sure if its coincidence or not. Hence the curiosity whether there’s research about that.
Given that they work very hard to blend in, I’m sure they’ve got one ready if needed. The smarter ones anyway.
No.
Yes.
Nothing published I could find.
Considering psychopaths typically speak in cold, monotone voices I’m gonna go ahead and say no.

Where did you get that idea from?
TV
I guess I should have said neutral, and I wasn’t considering that they’re often good at mimicry. So I guess they could copy a dog voice, but they likely wouldn’t come to it themselves.

Same question…
Seriously, is it a tiktok thing?
Where are you getting this stuff from?
Quick edit:
Im just legitimately curious where you heard this stuff from, that’s it. If you don’t want to say, also cool. Not a big deal.
If you’re getting frustrated I’m not explaining anything, it’s because you haven’t asked a single question.
I’m not asking questions, this is all stuff you can read online.
I’m not asking questions
I thought I made it clear that was the problem…
this is all stuff you can read online.
It’s bullshit
Wherever you read it, you should stop going there.
Ok, fair enough.
Question, why would a psychopath have a dog voice if not for the sake of mimicry? I’d imagine that speaking to a dog that way would require some kind of empathy or at least emotion towards the dog.
The same reason anyone does…
Either they’re naturally high pitched or they’re pleasing for something. Raising pitch when pleading is something literally everyone does.
Like “psychopath” isn’t even a diagnosis anymore, it’s not a real thing.
There’s ASPD (anti social personality disorder) but all that is, is a broken oxytocin system either due to nature or nurture. And when considering how many people commit “crimes of passion”, I’d be surprised if people with ASPD commit more crimes than others.
The reason it’s over-represented in prison populations (~25%) is just because almost everyone in prison is either stupid or has bad risk assessment. Someone who also doesn’t have an inmate issue with violating societal norms, doesn’t have any guiderails. They’re most likely going to end up in prison.
But people latching on ASPD like those people are dangerous and constantly taking advantage of others is no different than stories about witches and monsters from centuries ago. Stories told to make people feel safe as long as they can identify “them” and everyone else is “safe”.
Like, the oxytocin system is why people live their in group, but it’s also the entire fucking reason for “out-group” in the first place. It’s pure tribalism in a biochemical.
Someone with ASPD doesn’t have innate in-group bonds, but the vast majority are smart enough to figure societal laws are beneficial. And they just don’t have it in them to be racist.
So don’t worry about “psychopaths” worry about idiots with bad risk assessment, most of the damage they do is because they legitimately think they’re helping somehow.
Edit for a reference:
However, research by professor Carsten de Dreu at the University of Amsterdam showed in 2011 that oxytocin had a slightly more sinister side. His experiments revealed that what many thought of as the “moral molecule” actually contributed to what scientists euphemistically refer to as “ethnocentrism,” or what the layman would call racism.
Participants in de Dreu’s study were presented with a dilemma in which they had to deny one person access to a lifeboat in order to save five others. In the double-blind experiment, Dutch men were given either oxytocin via a nasal spray or a placebo. The results showed that those taking oxytocin were more likely to spare men with Dutch names while sacrificing those with Muslim- or German-sounding names. For those who were given the placebo, however, the name of the potential victim didn’t matter.
I I found it strange that this hormone, which supposedly makes you love everything around you, also apparently turns you into that very specific type of dickhead who chooses to be hostile to those who are different from you. So to find out more, I got in touch with Anil Seth, a neuroscientist at the University of Sussex and co-director of the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science. He said that this effect of oxytocin could have something to do evolution and social survival.
“The idea of altruism and pro-sociality has been looked at a lot by anthropologists and social scientists who recognize that while it often pays to be pro-social among your in-group—those who share common cultural interests and who may even be distantly related to you—the opposite might apply with your out-group,” he told me

Really? On TV for sure, but any other source for that?
I’ve only watched and read about interrogations with suspected psychopaths - I realize that this is probably an incomplete picture now
