I agree, but with exceptions. More complicated projects made of several separate parts (especially ones not 100% 3D printed) can be hella cool.

Heat set screw inserts, embedded hardware (nuts, magnets, springs), electronics, etc. can all be used to create toys that can’t be purchased.

How do you feel about building a printer?

The SV08 is basically a Voron 2.4, and while I think that it’s not bad for the money, for close to the same amount you can buy a Formbot 2.4R2 350mm kit.

A standard Voron 2.4 build will be easier to add a tool changer to compared to a SV08 (efforts are ongoing though). It runs mainline Klipper, which will also open up a myriad of other options. The Voron is much more of a project though.

I use metric for 3D modeling and 3D printing. It’s a much better system than Imperial.

The USA actually did try to switch once, but as with everything we do, it was a half-assed attempt that didn’t stick.

And then beyond that, even though this is clearly a joke song, I still don’t want to post anything that encourages hateful people to hate or deal with the sometimes-loathsome comments posts attract.

When people do that in the fediverse, they ruin my enjoyment of the joke. We’re starting to have a lot more toxic people hanging around, and the Lemmy software just isn’t up to dealing with it.

Current version of Excel stripped out a macro I made to make a specific task easier. It didn’t just block it from running. It refused to let me even see it anymore.

LibreOffice allowed me to see it again so I could re-implement it temporarily. I love how often Microsoft’s own tools can’t do what FOSS can with Microsoft files.

Orion browser on iOS supports Firefox and Chrome extensions. It’s relatively new still, but I’ve been using it without any issue with uBO

Most of it is on Abrams’ shoulders, I agree. Johnson reportedly asked him if he was cool that his script was going to be a big departure, and Abrams gave him the green light.

Abrams famously cannot follow through with anything he sets up, so this isn’t a surprise to me, merely a disappoint that he was allowed to screw up the only sequel trilogy we’re ever going to get.

I think if you cut out the unnecessary side trip with the casino that it’s a decent movie, and yeah, probably the best of the three either way.

My issue with it beyond that was that Johnson and Abrams didn’t really try to keep their writing cohesive. TRoS was a hot mess because of that.
