Yeah, all three of them paralleled the OT pretty closely, from starting on Tatooine, meeting up with fugitives/refugees of the bad guys, leaving on the falcon, meeting Han and Chewie, main antagonist in black costume/mask, MC wins confrontation at the end. Then goes to a remote planet to meet a hermit jedi master that trains her a bit before she must return to an obvious trap to help her friends who had their own narrative for the movie, they get betrayed by the help they seek in a flashy looking location, battle on white planet where they need to hold the enemy off while they make their escape (this happens at the end rather than the start, but clearly they were intending to draw parallels). Last one visits the second death star, ends in a showdown where the former apprentice turns on his former master (albeit with Snoke as a middle man, still unclear if Snoke was Palpatine in a rushed clone or a puppet of Palp but his own person).
IMO the sequels can be summed up with the words, “somehow, palpatine returned”. It indicates the laziness that the sequels were approached with.
I thought the first one was more of just “A New New Hope”
