yeah I’ve heard that, but then after suffering through the prequels, and even giving the new movies a chance, I had to hang it up. And I like the clone wars cartoons.
But nah. For me it all goes up on the shelf. I have to evaluate it as a franchise and its just utterly incoherent and more “whyyyyyyy”, over-explained, breaking the suspension of disbelief, rehashed, fan-service, panel tested, corpo-garbage.
I can’t fucking stand Andor, will never understand why such a terrible show gets praise. Gave up after the Heist Arc, which was nothing but a bunch of unlikable twats bitching that Cassian Andor wasn’t one of the cool kids, then they do a long ass marching scene, then they all die. I should have liked their deaths because of how truly disgusting they were, but honestly I felt nothing.
I expected to get down voted into oblivion. Instead I find a kindred spirit. That’s good.
Andor did nothing but waste my time and the fanbase is incredibly toxic, unable to accept any criticism of the show without resorting to insults about how “Oh you can’t pay attention without lightsaber fights.”
Nothing happens in this show. I really tried to pay attention but the dead air had me reaching for my phone.
Just 30 plus minutes of people complaining about Andor being on their team and doing nothing to endear me to them. One of them wrote a book… woo…
And on the episode with the heist actually happening, it opens with fifteen minutes of marching. No dialogue, nothing of note. Just marching. Why?
And the show doesn’t even seem to be made by someone who actually likes Star Wars. Why do they have realistic guns? Why are there dudes in military uniforms instead of Stormtroopers? Are they embarrassed by Star Wars imagery?
Andor is a snoozefest that excells at wasting the audience’s time. I wouldn’t mind the talking scenes if people talked about anything of substance, but it’s always Empire Bad. I get Empire Bad, it’s the premise of the setting. I don’t need to be reminded Empire Bad.
I certainly understand the logic behind watching things chronologically. But, I believe watching them in release order is much better.
Take, as an example, ::: spoiler K-2SO (spoiler below)
Doesn’t it make it better you know who K-2SO is when watching Andor, and it’s introduction in S02E08 of Andor hit that much harder already knowing the character?:::
My friend told me to watch Rogue One but I didn’t. Then he told me to watch Andor and I did. It was amazing. So I went ahead and watched Rogue One.
If I had watched Rogue One first, I would absolutely not have watched Andor. It was…ok. The pacing kind of sucked. Way too many characters and you hardly got to know them. Basically all the parts about Star Wars I didn’t like but more serious.
Andor is just a fantastic show in pretty much every way. You can forfet about the Star Wars connection entirety, you don’t need any knowledge of the franchise going in. I highly recommend it to everyone
Dude, Rogue One is SOOO good. Light years beyond the prequels and sequels. I like it better than Return of the Jedi. Jedi has so much silliness and kid stuff that’s nowhere present in R1. R1’s darkness feels like Empire.
I would just say that if someone loves the OT and just wants more of that then R1 isn’t going to make them happy. Honestly TFA is as close as you’re going to get to “more OT but make it fresh”. R1 is more like Star Wars through a completely different lens. Also digital Tarkin sucked. Had they just hired Charles Dance, the Tarkin scenes would’ve been 1000% better. That was as big a miss as not hiring Haley Joel Osmet for TPM.
But if someone loves the Start Wars universe and just wants more interesting things within it, then R1 is the juice. It’s recognizably Star Wars without being too familiar or a rehash of what has been done before.

If you ever get the urge to try again, I recommend Rogue One and Andor. Pretty much the only good things to come out of Disney doing Star Wars.
Forget that it’s Star Wars. Watch Rogue One then Andor. I’m not really a SW fan, but this combo is legitimately great.

Serious answer: because the point of a prequel is that you have the knowledge of what comes later from having seen the precursor movie(s).

Same. I never got past the first half of the season just because of how boring it was. Everything is slow and nothing happens.
The ending could be amazing, but I am not going to bother if I have to claw myself to it. I got better shows to watch.
