It is funny how even after so many failing each kid still thinks they can magically do it with the same way despite being subject to same physics laws

So we now have bots posting Facebook slop on here? And the users are upvoting this shit?

Seems like Lemmy is doomed to go down the same path as every other social media.

The difference is the comment section here has some coherency to it, isn’t sorted to drive engagement, and the platform encourages discussion rather than trying to simultaneously make you interested in this thing but also the next thing so you don’t spend too much time talking about this thing instead of seeing ads.

And no one is trying to use the comment box as a search engine or to message their granddaughter.

I also don’t expect to see many comments on the race of the kids here.

Maybe the community will eventually go to shit here, too, but the difference between the various social media sites isn’t just the content, it’s the way the site is run and the kind of people it attracts and keeps.

Reddit, Instagram, Facebook and every other social media didn’t start that way either, they started off good, but then they got worse over time

Yeah but I’d still argue it wasn’t the content that caused that, other than having content attracted more people and there could be some critical mass (though I think it’s about when the medium attracts a more mainstream audience that includes people who don’t like to think more than they absolutely need to).

That was my first strategy. Then, after watching a few attempts, I adjusted that strategy to “set up a new cup and I’ll do it” because that water would have been nasty as soon as the first kid dipped their hands.

But you see, the key to the trick is that size has nothing to do with it, nor does weight. It’s all about relative densities. The orange is almost entirely water, with just enough other stuff in it to make it sink. Even a bowling ball will float in water if it weighs less than 12 lbs.

Well, exactly the problem. It’s not just any hands, but child hands.
When I dig through my memory, my hands could’ve often been classified as biohazard. Genuinely.

We had a separate toilet room with no sink. I’ve used to spend a lot of time closed there. I’ve also played with wet toilet paper, modeling it into shapes.
Remember, no sink. So, how did I get it wet? Yeah, just like that. And I didn’t necessarily flush before.
Sometimes I even used turds wrapped in a layer of toilet paper. It was warm and squishy.
