They brought back beef tallow for fries.
Mission accomplished?

The invisible hand will eventually be covered in piss
Give power to republicans and we all suffer for it.
Every single fucking time
They better enjoy it, good chance this is the last time they’ll ever see it
Nah, people will forget.
I really hope you’re right
The goal is to have THE FREEDOM to sell you bad food without THE MAN telling those poor innocent businesses to toss it out or shut down.
A healthy, broadly educated population, which feels safe and secure, is incompatible with, and toxic to, conservative and authoritarian ideologies.
They need you to be sick, stupid, and scared.
Conservatives tend to die first in harsh times, because they don’t know how to take care of their health, funny how that works.
Yet during COVID they were all parroting the party of personal responsibilities
What most people don’t realize is that MAHA and MAGA aren’t political slogans indicating their goals. They are actually telling us what to do: “Make America Great/Healthy Again, because we’re certainly not going to do it.”
Funny, I’m reading this while on the toilet shitting my brains out because I probably have cyclospora.
Wait that’s not funny, that fucking sucks.
Just got done with it; get those antibiotics as soon as you can.
😑
Hope you’re not stuck too much longer, awful.
My sister in law died this morning from a bad listeria infection.
While the source hasn’t been identified, I have little doubt it can be traced to the current administrations lackluster food safety policies.
Her two sons will grow up without a mother because of these fascist pricks lust for wealth and power. It won’t be okay until they’re all gone.
I’m really sorry for your loss. That’s awful.
Shit man, I’m sending love. Thats horrific 🫂
Thank you.
Wow, I’m so sorry to hear that. As a non-American, I didn’t realize the food safety situation was this dire. What an unnecessary, pointless death. How many more until the people finally turn on the government? Food is about as non-partisan or bi-partisan as you can get.
How many more until the people finally turn on the government?
It’s already starting to happen. Avowed socialists winning special elections in formerly lopsided Trump districts, etc. About fucking time.
Food is about as non-partisan or bi-partisan as you can get.
food involves both lots of money and the opportunity to display cultural group membership, so, no
food is highly partisan; take non pasturised milk, should it be able to be sold as food?
It shouldn’t be though. It really really really should not be a partisan issue or even an issue at all to think people deserve access to healthy and safe food.
sure, but should people not also have the right to unhealthy food should sweets be allowed, whatabout alcohol? and this is even ignoring the issue of what animals should be able to be eaten.
The right to unhealthy food and choosing to slowly die of poor diet and lack of exercise - yeah that’s fine, freedom and so forth. I’m all for letting people imbibe whatever drugs they want, including alcohol, as long as they’re being responsible about it. You wanna grab some heroin and shoot up and pass out on your couch after a hard day at work. Go for it. Idgaf.
That, however, is very different than food being literally poisonous in a way that will acutely affect someone. Either through actual poisons or by being full of deadly and dangerous bacteria that will kill you.
That is unacceptable. It’s not part of some slippery slope of limiting personal choice; it’s a baseline part of a healthy and happy society we should all be striving to create.
Personally, I would also advocate for a gigantic sugar tax on all levels of production, refinement and sale. Starting at the crops and through to the sodas. Additionally, I would create a percentage based tax on manufacturers of processed foods based on a “healthiness index.”. Healthy food you’re paying no tax at all. Twinkies - yeah that’s getting taxed the most. I do think there’s a place for the state to intervene in ways to push the food supply towards being healthier and one of those is making foods full of sugar and trans fats expensive.
People should 100% be able to afford a treat, that’s a whole other socioeconomic argument, but it’s far too convenient and easy to get food bad for you as your main source of daily calories.
Anyways that’s a far ways off from the original point which is that when you buy food at the store it should not contain poison or deadly bacteria.
During lockdown, Americans died of covid in the ICU while denying the existence of covid with their last hacking breath. Soon Americans will chow down on diarrhea groceries like Jonestown.
A man threatened my coworkers life over him reminding them to wear a mask the next time they came, trump and his ilk (including all republicans and the now corporate-owned media) are squarely to blame.
As an American, I’m not sure I’ll ever root for America again.
Right there with you buddy. I’m sorry that happened to your coworker. Things are bad and getting worse fast.
Yea. American politicians definitely don’t care. That’s like asking them not to fund a genocide on a foreign shore.
That is horrifying, try to take care of yourself and the rest of your family.
I’m so sorry for your loss
Hope things go better for you.
Don’t you worry about it. Soon there will be no more recalls, just mysterious diseases that unfortunately nobody could have prevented.
It’s God’s will. /s
more church in schools!
Gotta get that indoctrinated mindset installed when they’re young and their minds are pliable
Torts and prears
Conservatives are incapable of good government. They don’t believe in it. They don’t understand it. They’re shitty people.
To be fair, Trump is so senile that he’s probably forgotten that poop is supposed to be solid.
His diaper collects it all, he doesn’t know or care how or when it gets there.
Don’t forget they say avoid ultra processed foods and refined sugars! So basically you can’t eat anything

chili, whale liver, potato salad, and the rest of the potluck are all “real food”
forgot most people won’t get the sarcasm in the whale lover joke, don’t eat whale liver it contains enough vitamins to kill you
What they say and what they do is two seperate things.
STOP listening to them and START watching what they are doing.
And then, vote according to what you saw.
The number of recalls hasn’t changed significantly. It’s one of those things that is constantly happening and only gets picked up by the news when it starts getting clicks for whatever reason. It’s like when that train derailed in Ohio and then the media made everyone think there was a sudden epidemic of train derailments.
I say this not in defense of the current administration, but to calm potentially over-frazzled nerves.

This is like posting one of those graphs showing reported rapes in various countries. They show that there are almost no rapes in Saudia Arabia, while countries like Sweden are apparently the rape capital of the world. You are confusing reported cases with the huge shadow number of unreported cases.
The US administration gutted the agencies responsible for recalling food, of course there won’t be a rise, because most toxic food won’t be reported by the FDA anymore.
My partner used to work for the FDA doing food safety stuff.
That’s actually part of the problem. The recalls are happening not preemptively but after it’s killing people. People dying from the e coli blueberries then initiating a recall. Nevermind how little prevention is happening before things go to market. Quality and production are always at odds with each other, but the threat of law was the only thing giving quality ammo. Now it’s just pure unfettered capitalism
Now do illness and deaths related to foodborne disease. If recalls were a good proxy for the outcomes people care about, then the best course of action for public health would be to put a stop to all recalls.
The worst years in recent history were 2011 with 33 deaths and 2024 with 19 deaths. We’re at 2 so far this year. It’s true that the cyclospora outbreak made an unusually high amount of people sick, though.
Its sharp decline there worries me much more…
Year isn’t over yet.
