I dont get why people find it so hard to believe Colbert was cancelled because of ratings. The only time I hear people talk about the show is when someone complains about how much it sucks

it was the number one rated late night show. it was still abysmal ratings but since none of the others were cancelled, yeah it’s hard to believe it was solely because of ratings. CBS is trying to suck up to trump so they probably concluded that “#1 late night show” was not worth the extra FCC and regulatory scrutiny.

although to be honest between the 5 depicted in this shitty cartoon, colbert was the worst. the second worst is probably jimmy kimmel but i have been watching jimmy kimmel’s monologues recently (the rest of the show is ass), and to be honest it wasn’t bad.

I would almost guarantee you that despite being the number one rated late show, it actively lost the company money with how large it’s budget was. Colbert’s contract alone probably made it not worth it.

It’s not solely ratings, it’s just, a dying genre of cable television (because advertising killed it) that is going to say it’s final goodbyes as this format moves over to podcasts or online television.
