throws rock at nuke
nuke explodes
Whoa! It’s Tr-
Ok, but hear me out. 2 nukes
Thing about bunkers is, they need a door to get in and out through, and doors are pretty susceptible to being sealed in with a relatively small amount of concrete…
Solution: Dwarf Fortress it up. Fully sustainable underground complex.
Thermodynamics? What thermodynamics? If it gets hot just
use nethercaprefrigerate it. /sIIRC one of the US nuclear apocalypse bunkers is built over an underground river, as much for the heat discharge as for the water. After that by far the biggest PITA is farming, although if you’re not expecting decades you can do cans in a much smaller area.

Been playing since 2006 💪💪💪💪💪
I even dug up the little column that tipped me off, out of pure nostalgia!

What a time to be alive! Watching worldgen on my Dell potato was mind-blowing
Impressive. I started with one of the early 3D additions.
TBH I’ve never been very good at fort mode, because I’m perfectionistic. It either gets ruined and I lose interest or I build an impenetrable uber-fort that’s boring and lose interest.
Lord knows how much time I’ve spent on settings and worldgen, though, or just wandering around as an adventurer.

God, I was so confused in that early 2D fortress version when I went to check out my fortress in adventurer mode. “Why the fuck are all these stairs here!? Didn’t I just dig to the right???”
And subsequently, I was confused when initially shifting to 3D fortresses. “This embark location is supposed to have iron, but I’ve literally mined out the entire screen and found nothing?? WHERE IRON”
Finding Z-levels in fortress mode was like Buddhist enlightenment or someshit. XD

I’ve always loved fortress mode, but I’ve been real hyped about the new siege mechanic update that make it so fortresses are no longer impenetrable by the simple addition of a raised bridge + locked door. I’ve just been waiting to get in a real dedicated mood to try it out.
Okay, sure … but even 60 meters underground is pretty fucking deep, really. (~200ft, for the metric-challenged folks) Quite the excavation project, if you don’t already have a natural cave. And even a lot of natural caves aren’t quite that deep.
And building something 200-300 meters underground starts to become quite an engineering challenge.
On the other hand, 200m down is barely considered underground by miners
That’s why we use submarines as final strike nuclear platforms. Water blocks explosions nearly as well and a submarine can move out of the way.
And if they really start digging, you can dial out.
Hypothetically, if a surface nuke can make a 100 meter deep crater, what happens if you nuke the ground above a deep bunker, send another nuke to strike the deepest point of the crater, another nuke to the bottom of that crater, and so on?
You invalidate that meme and make the person who made it rather upset.
The ol’ nuke double-tap.
You get chosen as head of the EPA.
IIRC they were talking about this with operation Midnight Hammer, if strike one didn’t do it. I’m guessing there’s a point of diminishing returns once the hole gets deeper than it is wide, though.
These fools acting like a meter ain’t shit.
You have to come out eventually…
Or, as others have said, just seal up the entrance and let the bunker become your tomb.

God I love this movie.
That vent will become a problem, though.
I used to bullseye womprats in my T-16 and they aren’t much bigger than that.
Gravitational bombs? You know, the ones that can pass through hard matter and accelerate your head through your spine into your ass? /j
