Being 90 years old in the Senate is wild and probably should not happen. I will make an exception for Chuck Grassley as despite surely being a horrible person his Twitter stuff was kinda funny

I saw a post that reminded me that Bernie is running in 2030. I made the list myself and I decided to make the cut off age 80 (and not 70) or I’d have to much stuff to check and too much to click. It reminded me of when I was studying for the SATs. I surely looked up the word “sclerotic”. I hardly read any books back then and I was a dumb teen. I must’ve have thought - nobody uses this word!
That was some decades ago and I got a surprise when I read and heard the media use the word in phrases like “the sclerotic leadership of the Soviet Union”. Yet in modern America unless Bernie dies or gets incapacitated - he’s going to be a senator in his 90s! Just fucking retire!
Ninja edit. “Hard liners” is similar. Back then it was only used for US enemies like Iran. But it sure entirely fell out of favor some time in Trump 1.0 because it got embarrassing for the media. Trump clearly fit the definition too.
I mean, I’d really struggle to find a definition of “hardliner” that fit America’s enemies but didn’t fit someone like George “I won’t apologize for blowing up a civilian airliner because America must never apologize” HW Bush or Joe “If Israel did not exist, America would need to invent an Israel” Biden too.
