President Donald Trump has ordered all U.S. agencies to stop using Anthropic technology after the company’s unusually public dispute with the Pentagon over artificial intelligence safety.

    Trust us, bro.

    Anthropic had said it sought narrow assurances from the Pentagon that its AI chatbot Claude would not be used for mass surveillance of Americans or in fully autonomous weapons. The Pentagon said it was not interested in such uses and would only deploy the technology in legal ways, but it also insisted on access without any limitations.

    This made me laugh.

    “The United States of America will never allow a radical left, woke company to dictate how our great military fights and wins wars!” he wrote in all caps.

        Anthropic was surely willing to give Trump 99% of he wants but they didn’t give him 100% so now he wants the company destroyed. Trump’s ever-present maximal stance on everything and his rock-solid foundation of a ~35% approval rate is frightening. I can’t imagine a real world situation where the percentage drops significantly. And GOP pols never forget it.

        If Trump was the opposite of stupid, impatient, impulsive, and delusional - he could use his FBI and his DOJ to frame the execs of the company on - cough - trumped up charges. He could claim they were traitors who committed espionage. GOP pols would be “troubled” by this but other than that - they’d go along with it. And his base would love it. Destroy woke!

        Trump could even create enough stochastic terrorism that maybe some wing nut chud murders an exec.
